The Championship 2019-20

Thinking back and how we started the season, is gut wrenching, 12 points in the first 11 games. Should be walking this league really. We play the best football by far.

Such a shame that you aren't going to get to say goodbye to the old ground, but I have a feeling your first game in the new stadium will be in the EPL.

Maybe they will play an unlocked game in the park, a friendly just so say good bye. They will need to play a few live games in the new ground to test it before fully opening it to the EPL...so...

I’m absolutely gutted I won’t get to go there again on a proper match day, absolutely gutted.

[Nostalgia alert]

89 was the first time I went after I moved from Ireland to London, to Hanwell - my brother-in-law was a fan so brought me. I only went a cpl/few times a season for the first few years. The years of Dean Hedges and Gary Blissett  we've had some cracking players over the years, even your Lloyd Owusu's. Current squad tho' is probably the best I've seen. I think we were in the old 3rd division with an average attendance of 4 or 5 thousand. Been up and down since but steadily better and the place is packed to the rafters these days. Mid 90s I started work in SmithKline Beecham which was next to the ground so I used to go to most home games and then became a proper fan

We're the only club in the UK to have a pub on every corner of the ground, even part of the filum Green Street ffs was filmed in the Griffin, a pub with the best worst football burgers in the world.

If we make it to the Prem then fuck me will it have been some journey. I've been a 'pool fan all my life and a Bees fan for 31 (all in) years, the idea of the Bees vs Liverpool in the Prem is without fathom.

So nervous about the next month.

Would LOVE it but can't see it sadly. I'd happily pay the price of a match day ticket to even just go and stand in my usual spot on the Ealing Road Terrace one last time, without a game on singing Super Brentford.

Not sorry to see Fulham lose. Imagine. Brentford, a proper old club, get promoted and play their opening match in their brand new stadium. What a day that would be....dreams

Not as old as Fulham, but then, no other London club is as old as Fulham. Whilst respect is due to where Brentford have found themselves with their resources, there's actually not that many people I would imagine who would give a damn about Brentford getting promoted or their new stadium, apart from their very small fan base.

I dunno. Brentford have gained a lot of respect for their approach and I went along to Griffin Park in Feb to check it out before it goes. Definitely happy for them and their fans.

Likewise. There a bit of a local rival to Reading, but I'll be delighted if they go up.

I've been to Griffin Park a few times with Reading, and played there in an end of season corporate 7 a side thing. It'll be sad to see the old ground go.

On the contrary. I think a lot if football fans are behind Brentford. Firstly, because the idea of a “proper” club making the EPL is almost romantic, and secondly every fan will know of the stadium with a pub on ever corner! The fact that promotion and a new stadium may happen all at once makes it even more poignant.
Hope they get automatic promotion tho, because it they only make the play-offs I’ll likely be hoping Cardiff smash ‘em!

They are basically what we (Bristol City) inspire to be, but aren't anything like. Lee Johnson bangs on about identity every week yet we've not had one for years since he dropped the high press.

Ready for midday?

We're massively unpredictable at the mo, so no idea what's likely to happen.

Just released (or had contract extensions rejected by) several big names at the club, need a total rebuild.

Yeah saw that Foresterri is off, but he's not been on it for a while. I'll be watching.

Yeah game over. This team is all over the place. I do think Johnson has lost it to be honest and I've been one to give him time. He's had loads of money, brought in two pointless loans that have hardly played and also plays Afobe on the left wing.

Still don't quite get it, what makes Brentford any more of a 'proper club' than any of the other top 6? People may well find it more romantic to see an ex European Champion club (Forest) get back into the Prem. I doubt many people outside of London have much of a clue of where Brentford really is, nor know the pub in every corner story.

I think you're wrong to be honest. I mean I hardly follow football now but I know a fair bit about them. They are a bit hipster I reckon. Sorry Numbers. :p

Robert Rankine territory and loads of Fullers pubs

Great result for the Bees last night.
apart from what's already been mentioned, they have been very well managed financially and what's more. Rick Walkman is a big fan....

No surprise. Beating Reading isn't a big deal at the moment. Fans who watched the game said we were rubbish.

We need a few more points for mathematical safety - I wish we'd hurry up and get them. Our next two games are Luton (a) and Huddersfield (h). That should be 6 points. 4 would do, but based on performance since the re-start, we could easily balls up and end up being dragged back into a relegation scrap.
