The Championship 2018/19 thread

Hadn't heard of him until his team beat Arsenal. A bit more about him here,,,Graham Potter: Are Swansea taking step back to move forward?
Thanks. Dont think he is in a position to be an overnight success but with a bit of hard workand patience might mold them into something rather than the mess they were last year. I would love to see Bielsa do something at Leeds but again he's another who needs time.Doesnt bode well for anyone who likes good football but Stoke, Boro and West Brom all look prominent to me.

I suppose the fans will also hold the key. If they want a winning team and quick return to the prem then it could go wrong if they turn on him.

I wouldn't :) but take your point. They have been a basket case for a while now,so it's hard to see how things might change for the better. They were flying last season ( we put an end to that run) but tailed off big time for no obvious reason.

Yeah they all look strong and teams that can mix it up normally do well in this league. Boro v Stoke will be an interesting match up when they meet. I do like the fact that teams coming down no longer walk this league. The parachute payments are not as helpful and normally go on paying up contracts, the league is more open and competitive for it.

Good point on wages and parachute payments

Really want to see if Mason Mount can have a good season
He has a fair few games under his belt for a youngster and good reviews. Lampard seems to know him and how he plays, if anything a stint in the championship will toughen him up a bit. I thought the quality of football played last season was good all round in this league. It bodes well for clubs trying to get startlets in on loan.

Harvey Barnes at West Brom another one to watch. On loan from Leicester, he scored a brace last week against Coventry and looked really good.

Going to be interesting to see him develop. Lampard as manager too, he comes across as a really nice bloke which isn't always a good thing in management but hopefully his commitment and skill will rub off on his players.

Missed this thread till now. Hello again everyone!

Pretty pleased with Uniteds business. Cleared out a bit of dead wood and kept hold of everyone except Brooks and I'm happy enough with the fee there.

Top half would do me and as ever would very much like to avoid having the others beat us.

On telly tomorrow then a nice London game for me at QPR next weekend. Getting excited now!

here we go again then and as usual, blues are in total disarray! we spent the summer chortling at the vile but of course, as is always the way, they get bought out by billionaires and we get a transfer embargo! (the inevitable redknapp effect). anyway, for this season, i still think we will safely stay up if Gary Monk stays, but that's about it. i reckon stoke, west brom and middlesboro will probs all do well and millwall will struggle badly compared to last season.

Not such a shabby start for Millwall!

I read earlier this week that 23 football writers have predicted that Rotherham will go straight back down to League One. 16 out of the 23 said in bottom place. Well, most Rotherham fans would have been happy with another season in League One anyway, the promotion was not expected and the budget is overstretched as ever.
Good job it’s character building following them.
Nice win for Brentford.

2-0 up and cruising against a disjointed looking Boro side. Should have had a few more before the end, Harris again takes off our 2 strikers for defenders, we sit back instead of retaining the ball and as sure as shit we fuck it away. The ref was the usual cunt before he played 9 minutes of injury time instead of the 5 allocated, but fair play to boro because they still had to score twice and did.

We played like cunts and got a deserved beating
Hard words coming up from Wilder I think

First game for us at the Hawthawns was a complete shambles, the poor wife struggled out with a bad back for fuck all. Wanderers weren’t even that great (although there were moments of brilliant play), they were just less shit than us.

I’m hoping it’s just initial season nerves that’ll settle. My fear is we’ll have another shit run and Moore will go in disgrace. That’d be terrible given his history at the club. This was a fucking embarrassment and all:

That mascot is incredible

My son was at The Hawthorns too, he has the misfortune of being a season ticket holder. He said the Baggies were kicked around a bit and didn't like it. Welcome to the Championship.

That Mascot, dear oh dear.
