Tavistock gender clinic ‘to be sued by 1,000 families’

There are only about 1000 trans kids in history who've received any medical intervention via the Tavistock and a large number of them will still be undergoing treatment there. It's such a blatant and easily disprovable piece of misinformation that reveals how The Times is so mired in the culture war that it has abandoned even the pretence of being a newspaper with any commitment to accuracy or integrity. And despite it being an obvious lie it is being repeated with utter certainty by prominent figures in the gender critical movement whose relationship with reality grows frailer by the day.

Repeating misinformation with zero qualification.

There is not one single family suing the Tavistock clinic.

As per usual the lie has gone halfway round the world before the truth has got it’s boots on.
Can you elaborate on this, the link I proved is from The Times which is usually accurate when reporting facts, can you provide a difference source?

Can you provide some other credible links to help back this up.

Thanks.

They're reporting that the lawyers trying to talk up their own case 'expect' 1,000 families to get on board. So the headline is misleading at best.
Can you show how this is false then, do you have another source? Not being facetious, but can you provide a source which will conter the article in The Times?

Have you actually read the article you've linked to, or did you just see the headline (much of which is in quotes and is actually a claim from the law firm Pogust Goodhead who are apparently putting together a case which may or may not actually come to court) and post this thread without actually thinking it through?

It's a bit fucking rich for you to ask others for credible sources, when you've got this so wrong yourself.

Only 1000 referred in total out of 19000 in previous decades, and they think all 1000 will sue? Bit of a reach.

frankly, if anything murdoch owned told me today is saturday, i'd go and check

i don't have numbers to argue, but considering the murdoch press's position in the 'culture wars' i'd hesitate to see it as an unbiased or 'credible' source on anything like this...

I agree, however if you can't provide an alternative source.....

The tricky thing is, no one is going to write an article called “1,000 families AREN’T suing Tavistock…”.
"Of the 19000 people seen over previous decades, the mere 1000 referred have no intention of suing the clinic"

Yes, not quite got that clickbait attraction.

So if they’re anticipating “at least” 1,000, that would have to include some who had had, what, non-medical interventions or something?

No idea. But if only 1000 had endocrinal referrals of 19000 through the clinic; my assumption is that they are vastly exaggerating the scope of their potential law suit.

Try reading the full text of the article you posted a link to and have a bit of a think, see if you can figure out how ridiculous the headline is.

Which you chose to use as the thread title.

You’ve got a helluva cheek posting this dangerous disinfo quote up and then demanding other posters disprove this abject nonsense.

Absolutely sick of this.

900, last I read.

Isn't it kind of telling though that The Times reported on the Tavistock clinic's closure saying it was "forced to shut over safety fears", when the Cass report actually said that having a single national provider was "not a safe or viable long-term option" so they shut it and plan to open 2 other clinics.

Though I haven't read the whole report I do wonder how much of the findings are to be expected from a hugely overstretched and under funded health service.

I don't need any other sources to know that I'll not be setting my watch by an article that contradicts itself.

As others have said, it read like a press release job by some ghoulish lawyers to drum up business, happily printed as news by a paper with an axe to grind.
