Strictly Come Dancing 2024

Not going to check if this has been remarked on before, but it really does irk me that on the results episode they still pretend it was filmed on the Sunday instead of immediately after the live episode ends on the Saturday. The whole fucking world has long known that. Yet not only they keep referring to the performances as having taken place ‘yesterday’, but they give the hosts the judges a full wardrobe and makeup changeover. Who do they think they’re fooling?

I’m gonna come out and say it. I like Pete.

Yes, he’s not as good as the others but he’s game as fuck and he’s trying hard. Give me a non dancer who’s learning over a Tasha any day of the week.

He’ll go this week I expect.

I’d like to see Chris, Sarah, Jamie and Montell in the final but I can’t see anyone getting past Tasha in the dance off.

I can’t see Montell making it, just because I’m not sure who her audience is so don’t think she’ll get the votes. Felt really sorry for her last night, she was really trying not to cry after that dance off.

Totally agree with the learning journey being preferable. I just find him a bit creepy (sorry Pete). BUT I do think he was done dirty with that outfit, he looked genuinely uncomfortable at times. And not just because of the sweaty PVC.

I don't mind Pete, I think he's got a decent sense of humour about himself and the whole palaver and seemed suitably shocked that he's still in, and I agree he's preferable to people who start good and don't improve. I can see a JB and Montell dance off possible next week, Pete's clearly got a voting base.

Many a Strictly season has the fairly dull ringer who comes last in the final and Tasha is obviously that person.

I think they are going in hard against his miserable bastard persona and putting him right out of his comfort zone. I love how he’s just gone with it. I didn’t know who he was before Strictly and I’ve really warmed to him. Which, I suppose, is exactly why he’s there.

I also NEED that pink coat.

Pre-Strictly, I thought Pete was giving off some serious Russell Brand vibes. Jowita I think has handled him brilliantly - I hardly think he's the first ladies' man lothario she's encountered. Quite early on there was one of the pre-dance pieces to camera where she said something like "he's become like a brother to me" (translation - tabloids, don't get any ideas about shit stirring), and it was pretty much at that point that some of the serious mask came off and he allowed himself to go along with the sillier side.

It's a dance competition though, and 'journey' or not that dance was awful and they're very lucky to get through.

They do not pretend. They would sound pretty silly referring to "earlier tonight" when the results show is not aired until Sunday. Therefore they have to talk about yesterday or Saturday just so things make sense. The presenters and judges costume change is probably historical, and allows those promoting the dresses to get more than one bite of the cherry.
