So...The Stone Roses reunion then...

Will The Stone Roses reunion be excellent or shite?

Well, the way I read it was that you were raining on peoples parade(s), by saying the reunion would be shit. All these youngies these days never saw them the first time round, and we shouldn't selfishly withold stuff just coz it's from our era and not theirs. It's not their fault everything's shit these days.

I'm not sure but I think this is a Northern thing. Ian Brown is still a god around here and the Stone Roses are still legends. Yes, the live music may not be what it once was (was it ever?), but the 'spirit' that their music conjurs up inside is undeniable.

Myself, I am meeting Uni friends from Manchester, London, Leeds, friends from all over Wales, old school friends and best friends. As a way of getting lots of people back together, this has been astounding. You won't believe how incredibly hyped up everyone is. I'm doing a mini North West weekender of it, Liverpool on Sat and Mancheste on Sunday. It's going to be a MASSIVE weekend whatever happens. The vibes and fun, and action that the gigs have spurred is already worth it. Cannot wait! :)

Much as I've made a few snide comments in this thread I think you've got it right there. I honestly think anyone who's going will have a great time. Is it my cuppa? Probably not but that's as much about the venue and it being a massive gig rather than anything else. Even the fact Ian Brown can't sing is beside the point really, especially in Heaton Park where he'll have another 75,000 voices singing along to every word.

I'd have gone to Warrington in a shot if I thought I had a chance of getting in; the atmosphere in a small venue would be amazing without question.

me & mr b were talking about the difference between good bands and good live bands the other day. stadium gigs are never gonna carry even the best bands, it's all wrong. but doesn't mean that if that's your only chance to see em you shouldn't grab it with both hands ;)

Maybe but not if you're from the specific area they come from. They spent years self-promoting themselves with a tiresome graffiti campaign on bridges and stuff. I was bored of them before they even got a record deal.

Having said that, I liked the album when it eventually came out. I entered a competition the other day to win vip tickets for Saturday - I'm dreading winning it though. Means I'll have to go.

I saw 'em at their last ever gig.....the one where they imploded and boys cried.

That was wet and muddy too.

An omen?

Sounds good from this NME review. :)

Setlist's pretty much perfect:

'I Wanna Be Adored'
'Mersey Paradise'
'Sugar Spun Sister'
'Sally Cinnamon'
'Where Angels Play'
'Shoot You Down'
'Bye Bye Badman'
'Ten Storey Love Song'
'Standing Here'
'Fool's Gold'
'Something's Burning'
'Waterfall'
'Don't Stop'
'Love Spreads'
'Made Of Stone'
'This Is The One'
'She Bangs The Drum'
'Elizabeth My Dear'
'I Am The Resurrection'

Sorry if this has already been brought up but is it true there are 8 thousand people on the guest list?

I was told 5,000 each night by someone I know who's been doing catering at the rehearsals. I read 8,000 in a CiF comment.

Plenty of VIP tickets for sale on Ebay and Gumtree:rolleyes:

They were fucking great. Browns vocals were a lot better than I expected (although...you know, expectations weren't high :D) and Squire's guitar was a bit quiet but they were far, far better than I thought they'd be.

Had a great time. :D

Enjoy Saturday and Sunday crowd!

There's a fair bit of shaky mobile phone footage on Youtube now.

Got a shiver down me spine when I heard the opening chords of that.
