So...The Stone Roses reunion then...

Will The Stone Roses reunion be excellent or shite?

Fucking hell, BBC 6 Music are going on and on and on about this like it's some world changing event.

You think it's bad now, but remember we've got this till they actually play next year...."Send me your tweets of your vaguest Stone Roses-connected stories now!" (probably of the "I had a glass of Stones Ginger Beer to help wash down a bunch of Roses chocolates I was eating the other day" variety).

Not even a stadium.......but worse!

Everyone I asked today whether they'd be going... "probably, I fucking hate Heaton Park though"

I got tickets for Sunday in the end.

Whatever the Roses are like, I am going with a bunch of really good friends and it's going to be an amazing 'event'. I can't wait.

They should know their audience. I was 15 in 1989. I certainly don't want to stand up in a park now I'm the wrong side of 35.

Fuck 'em. Not getting my £55.

Yeah, that's our take on it too. There's about half a dozen of us going and most of us missed out seeing them the first time around so it's a chance to be at a gig whilst having a great day out to boot. Unless it pisses it down all day...

You do know it's in Manchester don't you?

If I lived in the Manchester area I would watch out for 'secret' gigs early next summer. They've got to practice live sometime.

I am amazed at how quiet this forum is about this. It must be a north/south thing.

I don't think it's that. Heaton Park is a poor venue and everyone is expecting more gigs to be announced so there'll be the chance to see them somewhere better.

Anyone who has tickets for the first gig will probably experience something special for the initial 30 seconds after they come on stage. I imagine that bit will be pretty good, Reni starts the drumbeat for Resurrection, Mani kicks in with the bassline.............then Brown will start singing and everyone will go  "Ouch my ears!". Squires will stand around looking like an old woman if the press conference is anything to go by :D

Resale value already £120 minimum although it does look like Ebay auctions are being subjected to superbidding by fake IDs.

Initially I thought that - maybe they'll do a few nights at the MEN -but then I panicked a bit and thought maybe they might not and bought tickets for Heaton Park.

I was thinking this earlier. I doubt they'll brave a massive crowd like that without a run-through in front of an audience. I'll keep an eye out for where they're playing when the tour starts. Do you think they'll all be football pitches or might we get the odd aircraft hangar?

Fucking money grabbing bastards, all we need is Mozzer an Marr to kiss an make up and it'll be complete. All these years I've been banging on to the young'uns about how great the Roses were and how they had values and would never reform (Google Stone Roses quotes) then bang, Browny's getting divorced, Squire releases he can make a living from throwing paint at a canvass and they're back together. Cheers lads.
Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?

Least those chaps said they were only doing it for the money

You think 6 Music's bad? Try listening to Xfm Manchester. I only found out that Gaddafi was dead when i put the TV on Friday night.

Like a lot of people, i wasn't keen on the idea of a reunion, not wanting them to piss on their legacy. But the 'What's The Worst That Can Happen?' article in the guardian today put it pretty well. If their reputation can survive the abomination that was reading 96, even a ropey middle-aged cash-in tour can't do THAT much damage.

They've been doing live practice since February across Manc, and no-one's found out.

With regards to support, I hope they go Spike Island, and pick Justice or some similar dance line-up.

They've been rehearsing, but not in front of an audience. That's what I was talking about.

Hmm I don't know if they will. Maybe tv or something similar. To be honest, I thought they would play Rockness which is a couple of weeks before Heaton. We shall see anyway.

I forgot to add about support, I had read someone on twitter saying most people won't like the support.

Those aren't right. When they came out they had quite a few mistakes in. I don't think they will be the proper ones.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Didn't manage to get tickets in the morning. We had 3 phones, 3 tabs on the computer & the iPad on the case :-(

I am an absolute Stone Roses / Ian Brown nut. Nanker can confirm my ridiculous obsession. I have been a wreck since I heard the rumour on Saturday. I never believed they would reform. I've not been able to sleep, crying all the time, moody as fuck.

Thankfully I have a connection who sorted me out on Friday night, (my obsession is legendary), & I've tried to spread the love around a little by helping out a couple of other people who also missed out.

I am on a huge, huge, huge elation high now.

I found the press conference. Very interesting. It was great to see Ian so happy. The U2 bobbins comment fills my heart with joy.

Oh & the Friday night, when my tickets are for, also happens to be my 40th. How fucking perfect. So kind of the boys to do this, just for me <3

I don't think this is far off personally.

Money grabbing bastards or Mozza & Marr.

If it's the latter, they'll have to wait a bit. My nerves can't take it.

My WHOLE heart is owned by Mozz / the smiths / Ian Brown / the stone roses.

Interestingly I used to work with the bloke doing the PR. He's a lovely person. He used to do Moz's press at Parlophone & was also mates with him. He went on to do Electronica press, also signed to Parlophone. On meeting Marr, Marr said, "I believe we have a mutual acquaintance". That was a long time ago.

Did they ever get much of a following outside the UK and Ireland?
