The Stone Roses' self-titled debut album has topped a poll for the best British album of all time - beating out competition from a hoard of legendary bands including The Beatles, The Clash and The Rolling Stones.
I always had them down as a pretty standard middle of the road indie rock band at heart tbh. Now I'm a bit older I'd concede they have a few really good bits in there but I haven't changed that basic view. And god Ian Brown is a wanker.
I love the first album used to listen to it on repeat on buses and trains in rainy Dublin as a teen bunking off school and going to the pub. Formative. Will never tire of it.
Also loved the Mondays. Like a beacon of madness direct from Manchester over the Irish Sea.
I used to have the first album on repeat play but haven't listened to it in years now.
Breaking Into Heaven is a great song but the rest of Second Coming went downhill fast, I gave the full thing so few listens that I only just found out there is a (crap) hidden track
