Shameless back tonight.

this started last night?

feck!

Ill have to do some recording this week and watch last nights on catchup

Last night's was a bag of shite. There have been some real moments of greatness in the past couple of seasons, albeit watered down with plenty of meh, but that last epsiode doesn't bode well at all. They somehow managed to make Debbie's death a completely unemotional occurence, a vehicle for another fucking stupid plotline, and then her not being dead after all didn't have any impact either. Compare that to Mandy's death and funeral which was handled in an interesting and genuinely moving way.

And where the fuck is Ian? Did he not care about his dead sister? Lip? Anyone?

I've only just discovered Shameless:oops:
it's past me by all these years. then xes mentioned something about it over xmas and I had a look on 4od. now I'm hooked on it, currently just at the start of series 3. , so I have a long way to go before I catch up with this new series :D

I'm slightly jealous. I was a bit late to it, maybe 4-5 years ago.

Seeing it through fresh eyes =

Especially the earlier ones I think.

quite enjoying the Frank/Doctor who thing though

Script references too....

""It's not another fucking doctor who convention... is it Lillian?"

SpookyFrank... agree about using "Debbie's death" in that way. It's all about highs and lows. That would be one to save for real melancholy - she's the pivotal force in the family.

The new couple - the noise abatement order ones - they aren't very convincing; the acting doesn't seem up to scratch somehow. It's like they've been parachuted in from some cheap soap opera or something.

i thought that Frank did seem really emotional at Debbie being "dead" , same with Carl. the scene in the corner shop when the cousin refused Frank credit made me well up a bit as Frank seemed really vunerable and in grief, and Carl didnt kick off like he would usually, just paid his dads bill and left , almost taking a fatherly role over frank

Ian, Lip and Fiona wouldnt even know that Debbie was supposedly dead as the message was delivered in person, and Liam didnt want the others to be told over the phone (either because he felt that it wasnt right over the phone or because he didnt really believe she was dead)

tonights episode was good too i thought, although i dont like the new noisy sex couple either. i dont think its just down to bad acting on their parts, the characters seem really flat too, although i suppose they might grow over the course of the series

Mickey's defence speech from the dock was pure class! :)

"....sweets and puppies and whatever they use to get their end away!"

john x

Mickey is the best character in it by a mile...

agreed. Love Mickey

As I said earlier Shameless has been a recent discovery but I've now caught up with all the episodes. Totally into it and can't believe they are going to make us wait till August for the remainder of the series.

On a fucking Monday now! (I start work at 7 on a Tuesday). Yes, Mickey is leaving in the first few episodes, and without ever coming out (or showing his cock) :p

There are actually thirteen threads about Shameless in this forum, so I’ve chosen the one with the most posts. Apologies to the authors of other ones.

We’ve nearly finished S1 of US Shameless, and we’re finding it brilliant. My OH and I both love the Always Sunny in Philly-style fucked up comedy and even more fucked up characters, so perfectly happy with that aspect of the series. But fuck me, we’ve also been blown up by the hard to watch drama and social commentary bits that come with it.

I haven’t watched the original UK version yet, but at the risk of enraging UK series fans or being drawn into comparisons, this is certainly very good indeed as a stand-alone show.

I'm always tempted as it has Cameron Monaghan who can do no wrong, but I've never got round to it (he says, working his way through S4 of original Gladiators on YT )
