Monica buggered off ages ago last series, leaving Norma there in her van for a few episodes and thus completely redundant to the family.
She left to go back to Newcastle.
Now that's something I did miss while watching on Tuesday

Paddy getting shot was unconvincing. Wasn't found and didn't move for 12 hours, yet recovered to that extent?
I quite liked whatsername's public repudiation of the Godmother act at the christening though. That was cool.

Definitely improving for me too. If (justified) complaints about earlier episiodes being poor/unconvincing relate to the writer/writing team changing from week to week, then I guess one unexpected side effect of such inconsistency is for it to revert to getting better again!

Me too.I found it quiet harrowing.
That is one of the things I love about shameless the ability to have me in tears one minute and laughing my head off on the next.
The whole Joe story is a slow burning 'what the hell's happening next?' thing ... and all the better for that.
