Seriously Good Looking Guitars - The Guitar Porn Thread

I know, its a bit naff. More a fan of strats, and definitely more a fan of teles than Les Pauls. I couldn't buy this. Specially not with that faux pearl effect.

Check this one, it's like a guitar made for the terminator

I am a fan of the all the old odd-looking teisco guitars, unfortunately the one I had sounded and player liked shit :D

I almost got an ex-demo one of those about the time I bought my tele, but got beaten to it :( always regretted in it

Awesome. I regularly use my K guitar (very similar to this) to gig with. I have it tuned to drop D. Sounds meaty as hell.

my favorite part of my jag is its trem. That's just wrong.
Jag trems are ballbags. The whole thing goes out of tune in two seconds. I took off my jag bridge and added a mustang one (I have no idea why they use that stupid slippy one), and added one of those slip stop roll bar things. It only really solves the problem if you never use the trem (vibrato) but it kind of looks cooler.

I was so in love with Jags in my teens. They are actually pretty shit though.

I guess it would depend on how you played it too. If your going at hammer and tong (as I see you do) then you can't really expect the strings to stay in the saddles. I've never had any trouble with the bridge or the tremolo. I got mine because of my obsession with MBV and I wanted to be able to glide guitar sound they do. I'm over that now and have realized that the more buttons and knobs you have on your guitar the more there's stuff to break.

With this in mind I should be considering a telecaster (ah, simplicity) and will probably get one soon, just a Mexican one, but my favorite guitars are the ones with shit loads of buttons and knobs on such as Eko.

Oh yeah, my bridge has finally started buzzing recently. It's the stupid muting system. Next time the strings are off I'll see if I can remove it.

Time for some new axes though.

Yes, probably bought my jag because of MBV, though I was fan of the early days, I cant stand that last album only one half decent song on it.
Bored me to tears live though. I read in Q or soemthing that one gig I had been to was one of the 50 top gigs of all time and super loud. Well it certainly wasnt loud, as I was able to talk though it, which was good because A - they were diabolical, B - Stood still with you heads down or back to the audience is as dull to watch as paint that is already dry.

It was all jags and AC30s at the time.
All those settings on the jag and only one that sounded decent. Im pretty sure a fair amount of the inner workings of mine are fucked now.

TBF, a metal scratchplate was an excellent idea on some of the old Teisco guitars, 'cos they weren't exactly well-screened. I had a Satellite (see below, same model) that could pick up local CB broadcasts. Ended up lining the body cavity and the back of the scratchguard with very thin copper sheet! Those trems were fucking awful too! :D

yes the tremolos on those are awful. In fact unusable.

I took off the arm and put a bolt through the hole, so that it couldn't move, even if I rested my fingers or hand against the tailpiece.
The reason I kept it, though, was that it sounded much better through my little 30w WEM than my brother's Squier did. That pissed him off something rotten. :D

I've forgotten how to post pics but one guitar that always makes me smile was Gerry Reed's main acoustic .. he wanted a cutaway and his mate said I can do that for you .. literally sawed it off and patched it back up rectangular fashion

Different gravy tbf

So I'm no gear head but can anyone who's actually played or owns a Schecter let me know what they are like?

I've just sent a guitar to Scotland - swapping it for the guitar I posted above (albeit a 9 year old, slightly beaten up one - no probs, they look better for it I think).

So I'll let you know when I get it in a few days.

I just bought one of these, Ibanez js1000, it's got a compound radius fingerboard which is flatish at the 1st fret and cambered at the 22nd.

Plays great.

Ibanez get a slagging due to their styling but I can't fault the fretboard on my RG750. You can see why they are so popular among 'widdlywiddly' merchants because the fretboard is so easy to fly around on.

I also have an RG1570 the neck is really thin and wide but the frets are massive which makes playing legato and tapping really easy. I'm not a major fan of their image as I'm quite a shy person ;) so I always use my strats live as they are slightly more socially acceptable :D but with this one who knows, it sounds amazing on clean or driven, the frets are smaller than their usual ones and feel more stratty so its well suited to the way I play.
