Self-indulgent pet thread

There are some funny moments at about 1.24 and 2.40 in when he gets quite annoyed with me!

Annoyed, mere human..?

ANNOYED..?

Has the esteemed Emperor Kippers, Ruler of all He surveys, not explained repeatedly and made abundantly clear that obstruction of the Royal Progress will NOT be tolerated..?

No, he's just a cat.
Here is another kitty who I am looking after:

I've got these 4 polecat-ferret hybrids I'm looking after for a rescue. (Just recapping). A mum, a dad and their two young adult kits. The poor dad's had a hard life and doesn't trust humans. He bites first and asks questions later. Powerful lad as well. Like a short hairy conga eel. A small length of muscle. I would call him Length, but his name is Mr. Badger. He is just wonderful though. I have to very careful not to upset him, but otherwise he is very sweet. I take him for walks - most ferrets want to do their own thing on walks, but he follows you. I have him on a long lead and he just potters about following me. He's great. The girls are likable as well, I should say. I'm prejudiced against ferrets who are poor at being walked though.

Lost Loki today. He sneaked out the door behind me and hid under a rose bush. He then pottered over to Iceland where he rummaged around in the bins. The staff caught him and made a makeshift cage out of crates. He escaped much. By the time I came to get him they had built a veritable fort knox for ferrets. He was frantic and wet. He loves his home and he's been lost before - that's how he ended up with us. Alls well...

OU: if it's a neutered male you'll never be able to tell what sex it is unless he starts washing himself a little too ... um ... energetically for the truth to remain under wraps. but afaik all calicos are female anyway. she / it is a heartbreakingly gorgeous cat - if I was looking after her i'd find it tough to leave the house.

Glad Frank's recovery is going well - she's losing a bit more of the Voldemort factor every day ... but I must admit earless kittehs freak me the hell out (even, or maybe especially, the Scottish Fold ones where their ears are MEANT to be mere nubbins). And I can't help wondering how it's affecting Frank's experience of the world ... given all we're told about cats' super senses bla bla bla - has her behaviour changed (other than being mightily pissed off) after the operation? Does she keep whipping her head around a lot to look at stuff she can't pick up by ear any more?

I wonder if vets can invent / have invented prosthetic ears or ear implants for cats.... surely if it was worth inventing fake scrota-fillers for dogs, this should be the next cosmetic frontier.

I've not really noticed any behavioural changes. Btw, she has a very cute way of twitching her stumps:)

I wonder what it is about paper that they love so much?
I think it's more about:

i) specialness
ii) attention

rather than paper, per se.

Nigel sits on whatever's different on whatever surface she's on.

If she's on our bed, she'll sit / sleep on my dressing gown. If she's on our sofa, she'll sleep on a cushion. If she's on a desk, she'll sleep on a piece of paper. If she's on the floor, she'll sleep in her cardboard box.

If the desk was made out of paper, I bet she'd sleep on a piece of wood.

And, obv, paper is attention paper, too.
