Self-indulgent pet thread

They're incredibly intelligent, far more so than other dogs. I still get surprised by just how clever they are - which in turn means they need a lot more attention and walks. They're not a dog for the house or the city or if you're inclined to just walk the dog around the park everyday. You have to change their routine, walks and what you do with them to stop them getting bored and unhappy. Aside from that and the stamina of a shire horse, they make great pets... they're just a bit TOO clever :hmm:

Freakishly clever but sometimes quite literal, we had one when I was a kid. She was trained that she had to sit down at the side of the road when a car was going past. It wasn't a problem when we were walking her through the country lanes of Cornwall but anywhere more busy was out the question because she'd just sit down and refuse to budge if there was any traffic nearby :)

Out of interest were you specifically researching guinea pig costumes or did you stumble across them by accident?

(no way! I just looked it up and there are several places specialising in this niche of costume. There's also a site called Guinea Pig Today - Clearly I've been missing out)
pretty sure it was specifically :hmm:

I was never really a dog person til I met my friend's staffy, now when I see a pic I just want to rub their belly :D

He's not really a staffy, he's a heinz (mostly english bull), but yeah, I used to actually be wary of bull type dogs.

 :D

I was the same until I went out with someone who had a staffie, now I lurv dogs...

Well I like the nature of bull terrier breeds, not so keen on more mental things like collies etc.

IN PLZ!!11

She's now running up the damned catladder so fast that I'm having to ensure it's properly seated every other day or so. Like, full-on sprinting at it (from the bottom of the garden) then sprinting up it. If I'm quietly working on something / heavily concentrating on something she can scare the damned bejeezus out of me. THWACKTHWACKTHWACK MAOOOOOO
