Being cuddly. About twice a week she decides that I am The Best Thing Ever, stops trying to eat my nose and cwtches in like this :)

If I could 'like' that more than once, I would. Gorgeous little bird :) My Sennie used to ride around on me like he was a huge garish brooch :D

Love the fact that she has a hardcore harness, but looks soft as shite :D Tried one of mine with a harness, he just went completely floppy, it was like his legs stopped working. Mind you he does that a lot anyway - he has a tendency to walk in front of me then gradually lower his head and flop onto the floor on his back with his legs in the air purring like mad, it's like his legs have given out on him, he's a daft sod :D
I've sent some fabric off to have more made - one's got dogs on it and another's got birds on it, so that should be pretty humiliating for her! :)

Now isn't the rump in the air thing sort of "I wanna shag?" or is that just a guinea pig thing? :)

Haven't provided shots of pigs on the bed in a while, now with added cat!

Ooooh, is there a picture I can't see? Wanna see birdie!

Nah it's a friendly identification thing with cats, they have scent glands at the base of their tail (as well as in their cheeks and paws) - all cats lift up their bum when they are being friendly, they are just wafting their scent (which we can't really detect) around, it's an invitation to remember that they are our friend next time we meet, as cats recognise one another mostly by sense of smell. Cats of both genders do it, both for humans and for other animals that they live with and get along with. It's not an invitation to mate, it's an invitation to 'remember what I smell like and be friendly next time we meet.' :) At least in males and spayed females - I assume Breeze is spayed?

Her expression is saying 'they may be edible...'

Yeah - CRI, please don't leave them together unsupervised  (I'm sure you wouldn't btw).
No matter what you think might be going through her head, cats are one of the most predatory animals on the planet and I'd certainly not trust any of my lot with a guinea pig (or anything that wasn't physically bigger than them) - hunting instinct could kick in, and bear in mind that cats 'see' fast moving things more clearly than they see things that are sitting still - so it might be OK whilst they are having lunch, but if one of the pigs runs off, the way cats vision works she will see that movement like a great big flare and be attracted towards it - that's just the way cats work.

Aha! Yes, Breeze is neutered. With pigs though, it makes no difference - they still get fruity, well some more than others. Mal and Griff are both "entire" (as the only reason for neutering a pig is to pair them up with one of the opposite sex.) These two not particularly (although Mal more than Griff, which can lead to some "disagreements.") Interestingly, Breeze was sniffing Griff's bottom alot.

We've tried to emphasise two rules with Breeze:

1.) Don't run out the door.
2.) Don't eat your brothers.

Whether she'll abide by either remains to be seen.

Oh, definitely wouldn't leave them unsupervised. What you can't see in the photos are all the hands hovering around that got cropped out! Even though Herbie was a big old sop who found them disgusting rather than edible or even interesting, still always hovered very close.

She had a long walk all around the garden this morning (and was much more relaxed, yay) paying special attention to the area where ginger and white fluffycat from two doors down comes to do a dump now and again. Bought her a new lead a the dog shop in Stockbridge this afternoon.

Oh man, Breeze would take your hand off for some of that! It's kind of what the treat/reward things are that I give her.

BTW, anyone got any ideas for more tricks I can teach Breeze? She's mastered sit, come, gimme five, high five, beg, spin-around-then-sit-then-give-me-five, up on the chair and do all of these (apart from the spin, so far.) We were working on "fetch" tonight, but I'm not convinced she's got the concept yet. Didn't realise you could train a cat!

Cats can fetch. Our old cat Charlie, who was originally one of ms starfishs familys cat but lived with us for long enough to make a connection, used to fetch the plastic rings from milk bottles. I still remember the first time i saw ms starfish throw one into our neighbours garden & within seconds Charlie came back with it in his mouth & drop it for her to throw again.

As starfish says, 'fetch' with cats is ace - and MCs are often very enthusiastic about it, so definitely something to develop with Breeze. 2 of my cats love playing fetch, the other is a lazy-arse and wouldn't break into a run if his tail was on fire! My cats are trained but mostly in practical ways - get in the carrier on command, go into the sitting room/kitchen/bedroom (wherever I need them to be, I don't like them in the kitchen whilst I am cooking so often tell them to go into the sitting room!) they know 'stay', they all know their names and come running when I call them, that sort of thing. Other little training things - Sonic is trained to offer me the top of his head for a kiss, and to stand still for 'pick up'. Radar is trained to not only go in the carrier on command, but to pull the door open if it is shut. Jakey is trained to do 'Rolley-boy' in which he rolls over onto his back when asked, and to stand up on his hind legs and 'beg'. I know some people have the view that it's demeaning to teach tricks, but afaiac it is just good quality interaction with an animal and a good way to build up trust, as long as it stays fun and interesting for both parties. For each of my cats, I picked something they already liked to do and encouraged/rewarded them so they would do it more and eventually do it when I asked - Sonic is very affectionate and likes me to pick him up and kiss his head, Jakey likes rolling onto his back and begging on his hind legs is like second nature to him, and Radar has always loved his carrier and views every excursion in it as a great adventure.

Yeah cats are very trainable - as they don't naturally live in social groups, sometimes they will just decide 'fuck that' and not bother (which is absolutely fair enough!), but find a good motivation for them to do something and it's not difficult to get them to repeat that behaviour :)

There were two photos, not sure why you can't see them?
:( No, and can't see Schmetterling photo either. Maybe need to update Firefox or something? They've updated something on urban as well, haven't they? Looks weird.

Can see lots of lovely new kitty snaps though.

Can't type much as there's a large creature lying between me and the screen. Night all.

Idiot cat isn't very well :(

I was up most the night with him while he had diarrhoea, at about 11 we decided that 12 hours pooing was quite long enough for a young cat. Vet seemed surprised we'd taken him in so quickly, so I guess lots of people must just hang on, or hope things get better (or start a thread on here and then ignore all the advice :hmm:)- but he wasn't a happy kitty and I hated seeing him like that :( He's now had antibiotics, probiotics, an anti inflammatory, and he has special food and more probiotics for the next few days. Poor idiot cat...
