Self-indulgent pet thread

Breeze is beautiful. But her trying to look supercilious and cuddle a teddy at the same time makes me laugh...

Unfortunately these aren't my pets, but some gorgeous birds at the Scottish Owl Centre earlier this week.

Great Horned Owl (very common where I come from - make a creepy noise at night.)
Nice trousers on that one

Ha ha. She's very "tactile," as in has to touch things or pick them up with her paw, which is quite cute, but can be a pain. So, if you present her with anything like a cuddly toy say, she "embraces" it, then gives you a look like "wtf is this thing?" before either flinging it away or kicking the crap out of it. :)

The cat checking its weight after its recent tummy upset. 115 grams less than two weeks ago. :hmm:

But her tail was all over the shop so I asked her to do it again. Better!

Are psyllium husks good? I bought some in the bogofap sale in H&B, because my diet's pretty poor at the mo so I'm supplementing with complan, which I happen to know contains fuck all fibre so needed a fibre supplement as well. I haven't taken any yet though, I heard swells up and if you don't drink enough water it gets stuck in your throat and your oesophagus explodes? Does it give you bloating or upset bowels?

No ill effects at all, in fact no noticeable effect on my digestion. But then it was fine before. I take them as an appetite suppressant. They swell to 30x their size and you're supposed to have a glass of water with them. I think there was one case of somebody choking on them because she didn't swallow properly. But they've been used by millions of Americans for years, with just the one fatality.

Can anyone recommend a vet Brixton/Stockwell area? My cat has a bad eye with discharge and my usual vet has no appointments free tomorrow. Don't want to leave the little bugger in pain till Monday... Cheers

Brockwell park surgery (by Herne Hill station) is v good. There is also an OK one on Kennington Lane

Blue Cross hospital at Victoria - a quick tube journey and a 5 min walk.

My effing cat has been seen in a neighbour's back garden "looking miserable". The neighbour lives in a mansion block across the road and the only way the cat can have got there is to nip through somebody's legs when they open their communal door, then their front door and get out of a window at the back. The cat's not there any more, she'll be roaming up and down a whole street of back gardens looking more and more pathetic. Eventually I'll get another phone call I suppose. Oh well; it's a good way to get to know the neighbours. As well as the staff at the library. And the Ritzy.

My cat literally fell face first off the sofa last night....

Wish I'd video'd it, it was not graceful in anyway at all.

Breeze ventured into the garden today - sort of. It was "interesting." Will need a bit more work I think.

Love the fact that she has a hardcore harness, but looks soft as shite :D Tried one of mine with a harness, he just went completely floppy, it was like his legs stopped working. Mind you he does that a lot anyway - he has a tendency to walk in front of me then gradually lower his head and flop onto the floor on his back with his legs in the air purring like mad, it's like his legs have given out on him, he's a daft sod :D
