Self-indulgent pet thread

This is Luke and I on Sunday afternoon trying to work out if we want to leave the house.

We both had a little too much 'catnip' the night before.

My MIL was talking about getting a baby carrier to put her dog in as she wants to be able to take him into shops and stuff. Apparently most don't mind if you're carrying the dog.

Anyway, I didn't actually believe these things existed for pets but apparently they do. You can get structured rucksack type carriers or slings. : D

I found this in Homesense for a tenner.

I think my husband might be a bit jealous that he's not her favourite any more.

Lovely ears! :)

When Griff and Mal travel, they go out in something a bit like this, which I got in the market in Newcastle.

I've also got one of these, but haven't used it much. Maybe I should take them hiking more often.

Not sure what carrier to get for Breeze yet. Am hoping I can get her used to the harness enough that I can just get one of those seat belt attachments rather than a carrier, as I'm told she doesn't like the carrier. Any ideas?

We use seatbelt clips for the dogs but yeah it does need her to be comfortable in the harness first.

Cats generally dislike anything round their middle so that's why they object to harnesses but I'm sure some get used to it.

If not, and you do have to use a carrier, start slowly and ease her in.

I'd leave it around with treats in, then when she starts going in it, take her out for a bit. If it's because she associates a carrier with the vets make sure that's not the first place she goes in it.

I'm basing all this on my dog experience btw, my cats are wankers.

Thanks! Was thinking of trying something like that with a carrier - just leaving it around, maybe putting treats in it. I'm doing that with the harness (which is more like a jacket and she doesn't seem to mind it,) just putting it on for her to lounge around in. She's due her injections next month, so I'd like to get her out in the car a few times before that for "fun" things.
