You can do that without feeding into right wing tropes by calling their clothing blankets. You are undermining them whether you recognise that or not. Women have been subjected to similar abuse in the street, and much worse, because of the terms you are using.
I don't think you give a shit about the person that is wearing the Niqab. Your only concern is the item itself and how it offends you.
You can show solidarity and support people by not slipping into using unhelpful language.
