Rinse FM

I listened to that Dsk & Blackdown show today on the way in to work. Was alright in parts but most of it just seemed slow and like not much was going on.

ska invita is correct- it starts well, and steph is correct- there is good stuff at about 1:27:00.

this sunday i presume

Didn't spot that Dugs had put up an old Rinse show from 2002 (with Dizzee, Wiley and TInchy MCing).

Brings back just how exciting that time was - UKG splitting off in one direction towards dubstep (DJ-producer led), and into grime in the other (with studios crammed full of MCs grappling for the mic).

Slipmatt is doing a 93 mix live on Uncle Dugs' show in 45 minutes.

for any of you that like that kind of thing.

actually got a chance to listen to Dugs live this week.

I download it over the weekend and listen to it on Tuesday. Good stuff.

By the way, Dan U, what name do you use when you get him to do a shout out?

The beginning of my email address. Not done a shout for weeks as haven't really listened but got one today. He told a story about a tweet I sent him too. Check it Tuesday!

John Morrow from Foul Play on Uncle Dugs show this Friday  so much talent the Foul Play crew had...would post some favourite Foul PLay moments, but every single EP is a classic

I remember reading an interview with Burial from when his album came out where he said:

B: I was brought up listening to drum & bass. The thing that was scary for me was when I started liking club tunes that were a bit sexier. I was tempted over to that, totally.
B: I’ve got this amazing old Foul Play tune that I love called “Dubbing You” - it sounds just like an El-B tune. I dunno: all my favourite producers came out of no-where and then went back underground. That’s what I want to be like.
M: you know the link between Foul Play and dubstep right? That Steve Gurley, the early proto-dubstep producer that El-B rated, was half of Foul Play?
B: Yeah man definitely.

It stuck with me that he picked that tune as it was one that blew my mind at the time, and sounded so much unlike anything else that had gone before (a bit harder to tell that now, 20 years down the line) - its so stripped, a real taste of jungle to come - it was from mid 92 when most people were still going mad with pianos and rave stabs.

the bit at 3.54 used to kill me :D

Wish Uncle Dugs could learn to shut the fuck up tbh.

I'm quite liking the latest Roska show tbh even though it's not really my usual end of things - more house/garage/bounce.

...i know what you mean but for me dug's show is all about the interview, its like a documentary show rather than a proper set.
There's still always a huge bit where he plays his own records and goes on and on and on. (((stims)))

One day I will develop some computer algorithm that can delete annoying djs from mixes, and then I will be rich as Croesus.

I've listened to a couple of shows and hate them!
Enough nostalgia! No talking! New records please! (Unless they are disco - carry on HMD, I'll make an exception for your show)
