I'm subscribed to this thread but it doesn't look like I've posted and I don't recognise any of the posts on here, so I don't think I've even read it before.

Anyway, totaly agree with Dan U about Uncle Dugs. I really look forward to his show each week(I download the podcast and generally listen to it going to work the following Tuesday. Recently I have been finding excuses to listen to it before then, doing the weeding or mowing the lawn, etc!).

When Grooverider is on there he does a decent show, the Metalheadz show is generaly decent too. Just trying a few more this week, Stamina, Supplier and Flight. When Dappa does a Jungle Special it's worth a listen, too. :)

Nice classic UKG with Dappa right now...thank god for the one headphone at work option...first time ive heard him - very good

The Tief show is good too. The last show had on it a wicked club set of Marcellus Pittman at Corsica Studios

if you like oldskool hardcore proto-jungle check out the first 4 tracks or so on this Dusk & Blackdown show, all new tunes but in a harcore jungle style - pays respects to the past but sounds fresh and non-rehashed <exciting i think.
(see if i can link it properly this time)

Been listening to Dust & Blackdown a fair bit recently (and wondering why I didn't before) - love the tune at 1:27:00 on that show.

yeah theres a couple more broken-hardcore tunes around that 1.27.00 spot (the one before is cool)...i could really do with a set of just these kind of tunes.
The main thing i love about that era is the breakbeats, and as DnB got to be individual-beat programmed with that 2 step dominating, and most dance music now being very programmed with individual beats (IYSWIM), we lost the shuffle that a proper breakbeat gives. The problem is theres only so many breaks and they tend to get a bit tired (amen, think, etc) but even so, i want them back!

*that tune with the Fiesta in the carpark sample is :D

I got one other ID, track 2 is Mumdance + LOgos - Proto, not out yet
4th track is 1234 Mark Pritchard + Ragga Twins

This shits on the "breaks" efforts of yesteryear which never did it for me

Rather predictably I don't like them :D

Usually what I dislike about 'new' oldskool is that the producers latch onto the classic sounds without capturing the spirit of originality, which results in tunes which sound like formulaic copies, rather than an original take.

I wouldn't say that about those tunes though. They've definitely done their own thing. I'm just not a fan of ultra-produced broken break-beats. I like it to be a bit more rolling and human. It doesnt really get into my emotions :D

I can appreciate it on an intellectual level, but it doesnt really get me excited..

Ive chucked these 4 tunes up on youtube as i want to send to some people, and the link will go down soon:
