Rape, sexual assault and harassment in the entertainment industry

just recalled an article in one of the mid market tabloids about 80's glamour girl Cleo Rocos who made the usual sojourn over to Hollywood for "meeting" about pursuing her career. She met some producer who made the usual casting couch offer which she brushed off. The denoument was that she was walking down the street when a van full of LA gang member types screeches up to her & literally tried to kidnap her off the street. She recalls there were crates of beer in the van & they were hyped-up ready to have a "party" & she was absolutely convinced she was fighting for her life as she was being dragged into the van. Bascialy she thought she had been set-up for rape/murder by this character. May sound a bit melodramatic now but I recall it was quite chilling to hear her account of it.
 
There is a fantastic standard of Captain Renault impressions taking place across entertainment, fashion and business as the result of this campaign. For instance I note that the photographer Terry Richardson is starting to be exposed as a bit dubious, something that would have been almost impossible to detect without looking at his photographs.

How that piece of obvious shit wasn’t arrested years ago is an utter mystery.

Kevin Spacey now accused by a Star Trek Discovery actor, claims Spacey made a sexual advance to him when he was 14.

Spacey's response is to come out officially as gay and claim he can't recall the incident, shitty deflection.
 
I had forgotten that Spacey *hadn’t* come out. Everyone knew he was gay, no?

He is also known as an absolute shit to people iirc.

That's depressing. Mind you, over the years I've heard so many gay actors/artists/musicians being accused of dodgy behaviour. This is pre-internet stuff; gossip and the likes.

Damn depressing.
 
To be fair to Spacey, it's not implausible that he can't remember what he did while lurching around totally drunk at a party 30 years ago. Though not a very nice thing for the assaulted guy to hear. I think in a case like that I'd be interested to know if it reflected a pattern of behaviour, particularly with under-age boys.

I'm not saying it's wrong to see this as a ploy, but it was so unlikely to be effective that I'm not too sure. Spacey's previous public stance has been to deny that he is gay, so maybe he sort of needs to get that in his statement. It would be odd for a man who insists he is straight to be saying they don't remember trying it on with a teenage boy but, who knows, it might easily have happened.
 
Wasn’t spacey outed years ago after ‘walking his dog’ on Clapham Common or something?

This does seem like deflection and possibly a preemptive strike against further allegations which he may know are on the way.
