post a picture of your front room

There used to be a brilliant cheap second hand furniture shop in Brixton where the Brook is now. When I moved here I didn't have a piss-pot to my name and that shop provided everything I started up with. I still have an old (1920-ish) oak dresser base that I got for less than £20 all told iirc (the top is in the front room, screwed to the wall, it's a bit big for my low ceilings to have as one piece) but my idiot son had that half in his room and he spray painted it, all edgey, like
That's been painted white.

That may be so but I've got quite a lot, eg my new shelves in the kitchen and the big new but narrow built-in bookcase on the landing. I couldn't afford real wood everywhere and a carpenter.
Ahh. I have wood *because* it was cheaper than a similar thickness of Mdf. They are old scaffolding planks, which have been planed to take the scum off.

This thread is fascinating. I love it. You can tell so much about someone from their living room.

On a less fascinating note - I'm pleased to see I'm not the only one who doesn't have a flat screen television :D
