Spain are by far the better side here. Portugal aren't that special this torno. Spain have got better and better. Rocket Ronnie will be stropping all over the place by half time ;)

Spain's ability makes their conservatism even more frustrating, fuck'em and all the wee wankers who jumped on their bandwagon and thik they are football's intellectuals cos they "get Spain/Barca".

This Spain side might be successful but they are not a great team in the way the Brazilians or Dutch were, because they lack a cavalier romantic attitude.

Yup you're right. The Dutch were a fairy tale in this torno. Rumpledintwin.
and why didn't the Brazilians sort out their act for Euro 2012 FFS:mad:

makes me laugh the way people bang on about the great teams of the past when at best all they've seen are very brief highlights of maybe 1 or 2 games. i presume you're talking about the dutch side of the 70s anyway. unless im mistaken and you are in your 50s.

anyway i actually like this spanish side. after a long season why would they be busting their balls to thrash teams and expend energy? they are exerting the exact amount of effort required to get the job done and no more. 2-0 tonight and then 2-1 win over germany in the final

Agreed but I'm still supporting Silva vs Nani.

Given all the hype about the Prem, I think there's only 4 players (including Torres) involved in the semis.

I can't see it but I really really hope Portugal win this

My mum tells me even her rural village in the north (of Portugal) has gone well up for it

I reckon Ronaldo will score, but then Spain will get two. It's going to be Spain v Germany final. Mind you, I thought it was going to be Barcelona v Real Madrid in the Champion's League final so what do I know?

Hope Portugal lose because:

1) They have been the most cycnical team in the tournament. Nearly every time their players have gone down it has been a dive, or they were barely brushed against.
2) Ronaldo
3) 2004 and 2006

There's four in the Spanish squad alone (Reina, Mata, Silva and Torres). All other Spanish players play for Spanish clubs.

Italy have 3 players not at Italian clubs. 2 at PSG and Balotelli.

Germany have 5 players not at German clubs. Mertesacker and Podolski at Arsenal, 2 at Real Madrid and one at Lazio.

So of those three teams with strong leagues, 12 players play in different countries - 7 in England, 2 Spain, 2 France and one Italy - so the Premier League comes out quite well as a foreign destination.

In contrast, none of England's players play outside of England. Which is probably not a good thing.

Portugal change things dramatically, which as their league isn't as strong, isn't surprising. Being adjacent to Spain, it's not a surprise that 7 play there. Meireles and Nani play in England. Two play in Italy, two in Turkey, one in Russia and one in Romania.

So, excluding players playing in their own league, of the four semi-final teams -9 players have moved to the Premier League, 9 to La Liga, 3 to Serie A.

I don't understand all this stuff about Spain being negative. They've scored more goals than Portugal in this tournament.

Portugal's tournie record over the last 12 years is'nt too shabby,a WC semi, a couple of Euro semis and a Euro final in 2004 which they probably shoulda won

I knew he was ill, but I didnt realise that Miki Roque had died. Spanish football is having an awful run of such incidents.

Good game so far, Portugal looking dangerous and hassling Spain.

The twats booing the moment Spain makes three consecutive passes are annoying me though :D
