The Scottish legal system, like the English one, holds that someone is innocent until proven guilty. So Dow is not guilty, because he has not yet been tried and convicted. This is really very basic stuff.

It is quite a serious piece of legislation:

(4) A person guilty of an offence under subsection (1) is liable—
(a) on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years, or to a fine, or to both, or
(b) on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or to a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum, or to both.

I used to think he was extremely good at being flippant. It got difficult when I realised that, most of the time, what I thought was flippancy, er, wasn't.

I'm amazed the OP hasn't fallen foul of the law before - he seems a bit like that bloke who's in prison half the time for going naked in public.

Also, he seems unable to spell "defendant", and also seems not to know that it is not a term used in law in Scotland.

Last time I noticed him on message boards, it seems that he hates SNP, hates Labour, hates Tories, and generally hates all people who have not the cleverness and utterly amazing genius of Peter Dow. He is full of science-y wisdom, you know, and probably has a cure for all cancers.

It confused me, which isn't difficult, particularly after a few drinks.
As to Peter's health, he clearly has his obsessions, but he also has a sense of humour. Going by his reactions on this and previous threads, he seems to enjoy the reaction he gets and participating in the ensuing discourse
