"Scottish Politics is an absolute Wasteland"

so one not proven nullifies 8 not guiltys?? Hope I never have you and many others who hold this opinion on any jury!

Salmonds is an ex banker, and a friend of bankers. He flew specially down to Westminster to vote in favour of restricting abortion and he cosied up to Trump to try and get golf courses built here. Now people like him and Kenny Macaskill (criminalising football support, Kirkcaldy Black police murder, pro poll tax) are playing at being lefties. Wake up.

Anyway, in 2022 Scottish Independence & the shadow boxing around will-they-won’t-they call a referendum next year, which no Section 30 order will be granted for anyway, seems to matter not a single fuck anymore.

Buried under the pyroclastic lavaflows of Brexit, Covid, democratic institutional collapse / state capture down south, and what appears to be WW3 beginning. Of course no one could have predicted these interlinked catastrophes in 2014 but…it’s hard to see how ir2 happens, let alone is won.

Under our current trajectory, a referendum next year seems very unlikely. But it's defeatist bollocks for people like Conter to smugly use this as a condemnation "against the Scottish establishment". It would be better to get off our arses and change the trajectory, rather than passively accepting decrees from on high.

Just as a point of information, Conter is only Cat and David. It’s two ex-Swappies looking for an audience.

Bamberry is the one who led a Swappie splinter, bit by bit leading to Conter. There's more than two, but maximum 20, I'd say.
Yup, he’s an ex swappie and ISG founder. But I thought he was Kerevan’s spad (ex SNP now Alba)? Didn’t know he was Cherry’s.

Yup, according to his LinkedIn profile, he's "Parliamentary Assistant to Joanna Cherry MP", previously Kerevan's.

Chris Bambery is now a SPAD for a senior SNP politician? Er, what?

You might not like the people behind Conter but I find it pretty hard to counter much of what they say, unpleasant though it is.

Besides with the current state of geopolitics making Scots self-determination front & centre of your politics in 2022 seems just a wee tad self-indulgent. If we ever get back to a point of relative peace & security it’ll be time to pick up that baton again.

Fairly obvious the SNP are all piss & wind on the subject. A calcified, tired government with no viable opposition has absolutely no incentive to change a status quo that suits its leading cadres very nicely. The SNP’s rightward drift in the last while is undeniable.

No shit Sherlock!

(for those who cba clicking, Shafi's world-leading analysis suggests the SNP are "less likely" to pursue independence after the Russian invaion of Ukraine
