P&O Ferries sacks workers and docks ships

They have fucked over the workers in the UK where they can but not in France where they can't.
Yeah, but is that cos of the legal framework, or is it cos they know the French are more likely to do this?
‘Boss-Napping’ Returns as French Workers Seize Managers at Renault Factory

Why are French workers so fond of kidnapping their bosses?
Any naval architects on here who knows if modern commercial ships have sea cocks?
They have what now?

Coventry Unite told me on several occasions that Employment Law formerly the Law of Master and Servant " is shit".I think that if this Company get away with this and they are not taken to the cleaners by RMT Union lawyers no punitive damages etc that will be definitive proof that indeed our employment laws are utter shite!🙁

Ok, so they are firing and hiring, but fire and hire is not what they are doing. What are they doing then?
Fire and hire was generally looked on as the same workforce getting fired and being offered new contracts. This is just fire and the company already have an alternative workforce in the wings ready to move into the jobs.

I wonder if you were a long experienced engineering officer or hand how easy it would be to scuttle one of those big Ro-Ro ships. Any naval architects on here who knows if modern commercial ships have sea cocks?

Now that probably would be something you could get nicked for, but the pictures on world wide TV might be worth it...

BiB - yup, all ships, big & small, old & new have 'em.

Failing operating those devices ...

... sledgehammer, meet pipe [incoming seawater for cooling] [as per scuttling in Scapa Flow in 1919]

How did these nefarious fuckers manage to hire 800 replacement staff without it being noticed? If the new employees are non-British nationals on low salaries, how were they able to get into the UK with all the post-Brexit regulations preventing people from coming into the UK to take up jobs with low salaries? What are the safety implications of crewing large passenger ferries in busy international shipping lanes with entire crews who are new to both the vessels and the routes?

Is there a way of preventing P&O ships sailing? like a dinghy locking on whilst its in port?

Technically, I think that ships entering busy ports with bridge officers who are unfamiliar with that port need a pilot ...

is that the same Mr Raab that couldn't get his arse off the sun lounger to evacuate people from Kabul?
No, if you remember his holiday had nothing to with his decision not to return to the uk to help save lives and we know that to be true because at the time ‘the sea was closed’.

Perhaps this is his revenge on the sea?

The Lib Dems are gunning for his seat and I have to admit that were I still living in Walton I would hold my nose and vote for them.

That's not the point at all. The point is that the claim brexit would protect workers' rights is utter bullshit. We've always had fewer rights than, for example, the French, and we've continued to have fewer rights and you don't need a crystal ball to predict that it's going to continue that way for a long, long time.
It's not brexit's fault, it's more the ridiculous claims made by the RMT/ASLEF at the time really grating.

Fantastic. 800 workers sacked on the spot , by a multi million company , which the Tories knew about but kept silent , private security brought in with handcuffs and you want to criticise the RMT ( and apparently ASLEF) for its position five years ago in a referendum on leaving the EU?

Hang your head in shame pal.
