Olympic Track & Field - aka Athletics thread

He might be able to go faster if there wasn't a headwind but I'm not sure he could have tried harder. You could see he was really going for it.

He had a 0.9m/s headwind - he couldn't showboat much and still break the record.

What's the usual relationship between 100m and 200m times? I know 200m is faster overall because of the start, but how much difference is there? 9.69 showboating in the 100m should mean he can go a lot faster than 19.30 in the 200m, shouldn't it?

ETA: Old records were 9.85 and 19.32 (=2*9.66). If he can do 9.65 in the 100m, he should be able to beat 19 dead in the 200m.

I think you are right now Ive seen the replay:D.

But he can go faster!
It's almost like there's a WR clock in his head - I could see him thinking about it with 40m to go and deciding he was gonna have to run the whole way. :D

I love watching johnsons reactions.:D
Yep! :D

And every time he explains that 6'5" just shouldn't be able to get up to speed that quickly, but once it does noone else has a chance. One of the greatest short distance runners in history explaining that it's 100% technique, and still some idiots are shouting DRUGS!!!1!

They just make me laugh now those people tbh, better off not reacting to them.

Oh good job Tasha!:D She is so lovely.

We are seriously going to challenge on the 4x4 relay if Lee McConnell can get her shit together.

Go British Girls!
