Fair play.

Shit film about shit people.

An unexpected promotion at a cutthroat hedge fund pushes a newly engaged couple's relationship to the brink.

Even the presence of Eddie Marsan couldn't save this

Under Paris has to be one of the dumbest fucking movies ever.

It’s one of those films that hurtles through bad, smashes through terrible, and then kinda comes out the other side as entertaining.
it is a very silly film. enjoy how it goes from zero to a hundred. like a bigger budget giant shark vs mega octopus

By now there have been more documentaries made about Nazi Germany and WWII than there are pebbles on Brighton beach, but I decided to start Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial.

My OH walked in before I had finished the first episode, but interesting enough. The narrative timeline alternates between the rise of Nazism and the Nuremberg Trials. The latter is the part I am most interested in, and apparently this contains a lot original audio and to a lesser extent visual recordings of the trial not previously before seen. Enjoying it so far and will continue with it.

I really like Eddie Marsan, I think he's one of the best character actors around at the moment.
I'd have watched this just if I'd seen he was in it, but maybe I won't bother.

I'm gonna watch Under Paris now, it sounds in-seine.

Started watching the Hitman film, but got bored.

There is a new Miike Takashi film on Netflix - Lumberjack The Monster
It's a decent enough flick, most enjoyable. I have to stop comparing his modern work with my love for his excellent low budget heyday.

I watched all of Eric. It wasn't good at all really. Lovely set design recreating 80s New York as a colourful wonderland filled with poverty, corruption and degeneracy. The detective story was interesting, but Ben Dick Cabbagepatch's character was just a cunt, and I had no interest in him at all, or his wife, or even in his missing kid. The puppet stuff wasn't charming, or funny either; It was annoying. Not sure how this got made to be honest.

I just don’t watch anything with Benedict Slumberbatch in at this point. He’s shit.

Hit Man is highly enjoyable.

Probably not if you want some flashy gun bollocks, but it's funny, has an easy going charm and rips along. The philosophy discussions are a bit too on the nose and the ending makes you go 'but, but, but' - but its not a film that takes itself too seriously. Well worth a watch.

This is exactly the impression I got from the first episode, so I'm glad I didn't continue. I didn't really see the puppet thing from his imagination though, so it's nice to hear I didn't miss anything and there was no redeeming character arc for Ben.
It's a good point you make. I also just didn't care about the characters. That's some feat of shite writing when the abduction of a small child and his father's sense of helplessness and loss don't register or engage at all.

Is this series a slight rip off of the premise of 'Happy'? (Also Netflix).
Drunk arsehole sees imaginary friend and tries to track down his missing child.

I tapped out after the relationship started to take flight. Just got boring. The original premise was kind of fun, and would have perhaps made a better TV series, focusing on each 'hit' and a greater story arc (and other mini arcs of the side characters). It might have made the relationship more bareable (in chunks) and locked the viewer in to the situation.

I really enjoyed it. As I said on the other thread, it's in many ways a modern noir with jokes. And the relationship is essential to the plot/motivations.

I think it'd be a rubbish TV series to be honest because it's thankfully not really about the hits.

I would like to have seen a bit more about a couple of the would be hits, the ones by the posh women, basically. But mostly, they were just boring fuckers who made a really really bad decision.

The original article is interesting - Hit Man

I quite like the idea of various stories about various motivations and his reason for becoming a different character each time. I think it has legs. Having said tgat, I still probably wouldn't watch it.

Yeah, I did think it ripped off Happy a bit while I was watching it.

Just finished watching it. I enjoyed it but the end is a bit dodgy morally. I know it's not that serious a movie but still.
