Police officer charged over smashing car windscreen

A police officer filmed by a motorist smashing his car windscreen has been charged with threatening behaviour, assault and criminal damage.

Pc Joshua Savage is also charged with possession of a bladed article after an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Motorist Leon Fontana, 25, was apparently pulled over in a case of mistaken identity while driving in Camden last September.

The officer demanded the driver get out of his vehicle and when he refused began striking the windscreen shattering the glass.

A journalist and blogger, took her own life on April 12th, five days after she had been detained by gardaí under the Mental Health Act. She had been walking naked in a Dublin street when detained.

A Garda CCTV video of her detention was posted on Facebook shortly before her death.

Garda CCTV footage of the detention of Ms Quigley is believed to have been filmed on a mobile phone and then shared to group on the WhatsApp online messaging service.

Cop's husband gets into argument/altercation of some description in Texas, puts much smaller man in chokehold. His off-duty cop wife then turns up, and instead of telling him to get off the man joins in, kneeling on his shoulder and pinning his arm down with her hands.

Mobile phone footage shows that the man was clearly in some distress, and making gurgling sounds. This goes on for ten minutes or so until he passes out. He later died in hospital.

Need I mention that the chokeholder and his cop wife are white, and that the victim, twenty-four year old John Hernandez, was not?

Though astonishingly both Deputy Chauna Thompson and Terry Thompson have been arrested and charged following an indictment handed down by a grand jury. Witnesses call before the grand jury later told reporters what they had seen: that they had pleaded for the Thompsons to release the man, that Hernandez could not breathe and was turning purple, that his legs were thrashing in vain, and that despite numerous calls police did not attend for 43 minutes.

Off-duty St. Louis officer injured by 'friendly fire' after police chase of stolen car

At Barnes-Jewish Hospital early Thursday, Interim Police Chief Lawrence O’Toole told reporters the off-duty officer had come out of his home to help after the stolen car crashed nearby, and was hit in the crossfire between officers and suspects who had been in the car.

But police now say the off-duty officer was shot by a fellow cop who did not recognize him as an officer, in a separate encounter away from the initial crash.

According to a department summary of the incident released later Thursday, two officers who encountered the armed off-duty officer ordered him to the ground. He complied. When they recognized the off-duty officer, they told him he could stand up and walk toward them.

Another officer just arriving at the scene saw the off-duty officer get up and, not knowing he was an officer, fired his weapon once at the man. He hit the off-duty officer in the arm, the department said.

The Post-Dispatch first reported those details Thursday morning based on police sources with knowledge of the shooting. The department media office later confirmed them.
