As has been said before, if you're about to do something like shoot a bunch of people, in a state that requires people to carry id and that has racist coppers who will stop brown people for no reason, it does not make sense not to carry id. You'd carry id, wear your seatbelt, obey the speed limit, all that stuff, to make sure you didn't fuck up on the way to the shooting.

So the only question would be why false id. If it was left by one of the shooters and it was false, given that their object was to cause division, it seems possible at least to think that they might purposely want people thinking they had come to France as Syrian refugees. Hell, the Daily Mail ran with this as their headline today. Even if it proves to be false, it has done damage.

Or... they were simply travelling on false id given that they reasoned their names were known to the authorities and a false Syrian passport was what was to hand.

There's no doubt they wanted the French people to associate them directly with Syria . Everything on their person and not on their person will most likely have been decided for them beforehand by those who directed them . What the jihadist groups want is the western powers to invade Syria . For 2 reasons , to get rid of President Assad and to fulfill their fucked up Dabiq prophesy . The Saudis and others though just want them to get rid of the Syrian government . What is remotely bonkers about this ? It's precisely what they want , for a number of reasons . They believe it's essential the western powers should all congregate in Syria . It's why they've named their magazine after Dabiq . It's they who are bonkers . Me pointing out what they actually believe and what tey actually want isn't the same thing as me believing it's a logical position.

If Syrian passports have been taken along it strikes me as perfectly logical they want French public opinion to know without a doubt that they arrived there via the refugee exodus . To know it with certainty . And over and over again the EU position is this exodus is the fault of Assad . Therefore tackling the crisis means removing Assad. That's the logic of the west .it's been stated over and over again, particularly in france . Presumably these people want to use that logic to their advantage . There's certainly plenty in the west who'd like to .

Just because France is ...finally...attacking some IS targets it doesn't mean their stance on Syria has shifted any more than the Turks who have also bombed them . The French position is..and remains..Assad is the problem and must go .

Well I find it a bit odd that people who regard themselves as citizens of an actual Islamic state would want to go to their certain deaths tainted by citizenship of an apostate , kuffar state like Syria, which they want to destroy as an actual entity .
I suspect what they really want is French military action to be taken against the Syrian state itself .
