Love the DLR

London and the Docklands can't do without the light railway now. I remember when it first opened in late 1980s, as the area became commercialized with office workers. They had to extend the platforms and trains to accomodate more than expected passengers.

Since then the DLR routes have much extended. I appreciate the Lewisham link as I reside this part of London

It was one of those uniquely British situations. If they had built it properly in the first place, it would have cost a lot less overall, but if they had tried to build it properly in the first place, it would not have been considered affordable...

To my shame I must confess I have never used it, not having lived that side of London but family who live near it use it a fair bit.

if you find a spare moment in your busy life it's worth venturing on DLR for the experience. Perhaps wander down Canary Wharf complex and have cappucinno at plaza cafe

typical city planner shortcoming. Management cut cost short term with long term repercussions :(

Or when the computer went down many years ago , and watched the Train Captain drive it manually - slowly and surely , but it got us into the station. Great railway is the DLR.

My life here is far from busy but I would hope to move back to London and take more advantage of things there.

I always wondered if the supervisors on the DLR were "admirals"...
