Charles I in Kings Cross: a lovely little boozer

That is great news ! Must pop in there again, I'm in the area more now.
From the picture Dean might be behind the bar. A real local (less than a 100 yards) who was/is a black cabbie. I really miss the community feel of that pub probably what I miss most about living in London. It really was like a large front room pretending to be a pub except on Fridays when it got busy.

When I was a regular I used to run a tab & often cost me £400 + on payday but saying that I expect some months I had had £1000 or more of drinks.
It was the all night sessions that just became a pain to bother to ring up through the till.

I'll have to check it out. When I've got time to wait for a train I usually head to The Rocket by Euston which is an unofficial RMT watering hole. Used to be cheap but pretty much £6 a pint nowadays.

Probably a 15 minute walk from Euston, you'll need it to be a long train wait .

Also the Welsh Centre is ace - the bar is often very empty, or full of 5o welsh mens choir singers!!
Welsh new year (about the second week of Jan) in there is a laugh, but not very covid safe

Old Queens Head is pretty but its become a bit snobby in there for my tastes
