Who puts out fires?I'll bite. What's the fire extinguisher for?
Just call it The real anarchist book fairBut which would be THE London Anarchist Book Fair? Perhaps there’d be squabble over intellectual property rights.
My brother, Bill.Who puts out fires?
When there was that big fire at Windsor Castle I bet Lizzie and Phil were there, hosepipes in hands, dealing with the problem rather than being spirited away elsewhere. My brother, Bill.
No, but his mother's sister was the auntiechrist. Was Jesus an anarchist?

Good one!No, but his mother's sister was the auntiechrist.
Ahem...He had long hair and he didn't have a job.
I do recall the bit about last year and the assertion of no space. It was clearly obvious bollocks on the day. There is a lot I find disturbing about the way the new set of bookfair organisers run things. The old lot were. for me, painfully liberal but they did make it open to any group on the libertarian left. The new lot are also painfully liberal but are also imposing their own views on the event. And they're liars. The ACG was not previously banned because of any whiff of transphobia, last year the organisers simply said there wasn't enough space. Which having attended the event was obviously bollocks, and anyway the organisers contacted other people asking if they wanted a stall after they'd said the ACG couldn't have one. The origins of the ban seem much more due to sectarianism. Also that year the CWO weren't allowed to have a NWBTCW meeting, but a support the Ukrainian war effort meeting this year is fine. And really, what the fuck is going on letting a Trot group have a stall? I know someone here's joked about Kronstadt but there's full on partridge shooters participating in the event. Don't think mobbing Helen Steel was a good idea? Fuck off if you think you can have anything to do with the bookfair. Support the massacring of revolutionary workers? Make yourself welcome!

And if I recall correctly, those who put out the flames ended up being the ones who paid for the damage through taxes.View attachment 394419

the fire started in the morning of 20 november 1992 and was not extinguished until the early hours of 21 november, so i doubt the queen and prince philip were bravely battling the flames
You do recall correctlyAnd if I recall correctly, those who put out the flames ended up being the ones who paid for the damage through taxes.
That’s cleared that up then.OH JFC now I have an Urban 75 account.
Felt the need to clarify this, like... this was not a statement from AFed calling ACG genocide deniers, it was a quick reply in a thread trying to work out what someone was on about where several of us were asking as we had no idea. It turned out they had no idea either, which explains why the three or four of us in the thread couldn't work it out. I made a best guess about what they could be reffering to after asking around a bit, and then made real clear thats what it was in the context of the thread. It prompted the person who made the complaint to admit they had no idea, and then spiralled and split into several agruements, because of course it did, it was on twitter.
I really don't want AFed people to have people make tedious or agressive points about this at London (which I won't be at) so figure I should clarify. This is the thread in context yeah?
;
I felt this was pretty clear in the context of the thread, but if people will make assumptions rather than asking what was meant then ya know, things spiral. See; most of twitter.
"Like I said I don't know the details, exactly what ACG said, in what context, or even if that is what was being referred to. Was just a guess based on other peoples criticisms shared with me today! So don't hold it against anyone"
I take it you’re the Bristol AFed TwiX account operator? Can you confirm that you don’t think the ACG have been advocating genocide.OH JFC now I have an Urban 75 account.

LMAO. yes I am, and yes I can confirm that. It is why I didn't say it. I think i'd be very unambiguous in my language if I thought ACG were advocating genocide.I take it you’re the Bristol AFed TwiX account operator? Can you confirm that you don’t think the ACG have been advocating genocide.
Incredibly this was ten years ago - 2013.I’m starting to reminisce over past bookfair that were less troublesome. What year was it when Sam Ambreen turned up with their crew and jumped up and down shouting KILL ALL MEN!
Thanks for the clarification. Well, if we can make more of that sort of progress I think we can be pleased with our work on this thread.LMAO. yes I am, and yes I can confirm that. It is why I didn't say it. I think i'd be very unambiguous in my language if I thought ACG were advocating genocide.
really? I was assuming I'd some how have made things worse. There is still time I guess. Thanks for the clarification. Well, if we can make more of that sort of progress I think we can be pleased with our work on this thread.

Look, I’m not an ACG member, but I think it’s progress.really? I was assuming I'd some how have made things worse. There is still time I guess.
Thanks for coming onto Urban. Seems to me, the real issue is that the people on this twitter discussion believe the ACG is transphobic and from that premise are able to hold this 'oh, I don't know the truth...' discussion. I don't know the details of why you think the ACG are/have gone back to being transphobic, but whatever that is, it seems to create an atmosphere where you are unwilling to knock accusations of genocide denial on the head straight away. And that goes back to the idea of movement that is no longer a movement, trust and comradeship.OH JFC now I have an Urban 75 account.
