Interesting development and another step in the normalising of non dead animal food.

Interesting news this morning from a certain Mr Lewis Hamilton. The many times World F1 champion, and of course high profile vegan, is launching what he claims to be the first ever international plant based burger chain.

Ready to take on McDs , KFC and all the others Neat Burger launches in London on Sept 2nd with a load of restaurants across the globe to follow.

Lewis Hamilton is collaborating with Tommaso Chiabra who is a UNICEF Ambassador and was an early backer of Beyond Meat.

The pair say “Neat Burger promises to transform the way people see plant-based food by appealing not only to those who follow plant-based diets, but any individuals – meat-eaters included – who want delicious meat-free dishes that are more sustainable, healthier and ethical. With its first outlet opening just off Regent Street, the team has ambitious plans to expand the concept globally with 14 franchises scheduled in the next 24 months.”

What you will be eating is basically Beyond Meat patties which have been souped up by Neat’s team of chefs. The menu will consist of three, core burgers – ‘The Neat,’ ‘The Cheese’ and ‘The Chick’n’, as well as ‘The Hot Dog,’ with sides including skinny fries, sweet potato fries and tater tots.

I was recently surprised to find out that vegan cheese actually works OK in a vegan burger. I had read previously that vegan cheese is terrible and not to bother so I was quite pleased to find otherwise.

Not sure I'd have it on a cheeseboard with some crackers though.

They should be cheaper than beef burgers then yes?

Seeing as how agri resource intense beef farming is to veg farming. As we are so often told.

He's a tax dodger: Lewis Hamilton avoided taxes on £16.5m jet using Isle of Man scheme
currently lives in Monaco, money sheltered in various tax havens, hadn't heard of this particular plane-let tax dodge, I wonder if it's been ruled illegal by HMRC yet. The article mentions the other tax dodging he does towards the end.

I dunno about anything else.
So he's supporting the economy of the Isle of Man by purchasing their creative accountancy services.
The whole of the UK will end up as a global tax haven and dodgy banking after Brexit. Just you watch.
We'll all become complicit to tax dodging thanks to allowing Brexit to happen.

I tend to steer clear of celebrity endorsed products, no matter who they work for or represent. But being the face of Merc takes it to another level.

Whilst I have no evidence to back this up I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest you are maybe not their target market.

I suppose it's better than not doing it, but given other aspects of his lifestyle, including, y'know, his job, this sentence really does highlight the weird contortions our heads make.
delicious meat-free dishes that are more sustainable, healthier and ethical
And I'm certainly not claiming he's any wild exception, pretty much all of us do it to some extent, just that this is a particularly distilled example of it.
