Let's talk about China

China: rah rah wei wei China boo hiss.

What is it, nearly 500 million people raised out of poverty in 30 years? Some astounding number like that, there's plenty to criticise about China I'm sure (plenty). But I can't help finding Western criticisms delivered with the usual air of self-satisfied supremacy somewhat irksome.

And now for no reason- 400 Years

Ai Weiwei accuses Cameron of sacrificing Britain's values by pursuing China’s money

I mean really? Really??? David cunt-face pig-fucker Cameron and everything he represents???? I doubt the likes of Cameron have raised ten people out of poverty to be fair... unless saving fat bankers count. And said with a straight face and everything! That Weiwei may not be much of an artist but he's definitely got a sick sense of humour I'll give him that.

And this...

"Us"? "We"? who the fuck exactly is "us" Widdecome, you're British aren't you? Is 'us' what- the British... as far as I'm aware the Brits have never landed a device on the moon, so what- the US? This particular tosser isn't an American, so what- the West? White people??? All of which is to touch on what I strongly suspect is really going on under the surface, the same old bollocks supremacism that waged the likes of the Opium Wars (never actually been an apology for that has there).

The Peoples Republic of China probably has a fair few criticisms to answer for to the Chinese, but if I 'were China' then a random forum full of Guardian readers on an island that spends it's time sponsoring jihadis to rip apart inconvenient states and invading middle-eastern countries while it's pensioners freeze to death in the winter so Etonians can be bailed-out, and that has never actually apologized for the hundreds of millions it slaughtered across Asia and Africa and the Americas over the coarse of empire thinking to slag me off for not being their idea of 'a democracy' (any government you like so long as it's neoliberal and pro-Trident) can fuck right off to be honest.

As I'm not China; in answer to the OP... makes sound a mechanic makes when asked for a quote... swings an roundabouts really init.

/rant.

He warned Britain would not have a "bright future" if it continued to succumb to the might of China's economic power, claiming Mr Cameron risked sacrificing Britain's strong leadership on human rights for the "short term gain" of business deals.

guffaw, etcetera. so many levels.

Are Cameron and Osborne costing up to the Chinese president as they see him as a role model and his politics is what they aspire to?

China-bashing will never stop until:
1. China loses at least 50% of it's current stature.
2. Bows to the West.

In other words, China-bashing will stop as soon as China becomes India. India has a ridiculous human rights record, child prostitution, and a tragic caste system -- systemic hopelessness, yet the Western propaganda machine remains silent about poor the Indians.

And what does China-bashing do? Does it straighten out those horrible Chinese? Of course not. The only people affected by China-bashing are ordinary people who learn to hate each other. The purpose is to create an atmosphere of hate and rivalry, which is perfect for leaders and bad news for we peons.

Wealth an power is their only moral compas, the PRC may be authoritarian (uncivilised barbarians, ill gotten gains, not particularly into cricket etc) but I doubt they have any lessons to teach that parliments Riot Club would be interested in.

China bashing as put above may stop;
Once they get into meaningful talks over Tibet
Once they recognise human rights Inc. Freedom of speech etc.
Once they stop torturing and executing people
Stop polluting so much
Start recognising others people's copyrights
Stop trying to steam roller their way into other countries like various African and south American ones
Have a bit more respect for the planet and put an end to thoughts of a new Panama canal and railway carved through the Amazon......

What would you like people to talk about? Maybe you could start a thread on that subject.

I'd like to go back to talking about the economic crisis in China and what role that will play in terms of the global economic crisis thanks.

Ok, well the biggest news I know about the Chinese economy is that Huawei is going on a shopping spree to buy Western companies. I don't believe in the Chinese economic crisis, it's wishful thinking by naysayers. I mean, yes, there has been a slow-down, but when China grows slow, it's still faster growth than any of the big Western countries could ever hope for.

So, Huawei, which has had about 20% growth every year for 20 years, just experienced at 40% year on year gain! Their only crisis is that they don't know where to spend all that money. Currently, they have 13 billion USD saved up and endless credit promised by China's big four banks. They're looking to buy Western tech companies that have good relations with local governments, good marketing channels, and hopefully, some ICT related tech.

What's really exciting is that they may finally get to be a carrier company since Mexico is pressuring Carlos Slim to break up his monopoly. That's really interesting because of treaties with the U.S., if Huawei gets a piece of America Movil, they can do some cross-border business thanks to certain free trade agreements. Read the whole story!

Meet a 21st-Century Slave

furthermore there has been ample coverage of the issue of rape in India.

E2A there is a thread on here and if you do a search you will find it is not the only one

The issue or ones that are related to it hasn't just 'gone away' as evidenced by the article I linked to above.

The family planning laws have been relaxed in various ways over recent years and the demographic imperative (debatable even then) that prompted their introduction has passed. I wouldn't necessarily link any further changes to anything else than doing something popular that will reduce administrative abuses in rural areas too. Though they will have considered the problems of a larger elderly population supported by a smaller number of people of working age too no doubt.

Usually Han people could have two kids in rural areas so was less strict than in towns and cities but you still got a lot of forced terminations. Non-Han families could usually have more kids, certainly Tibetans, Uighur etc could not sure about all the official "national minorities".

They're relaxing the one child policy to deal with the problem an an ageing population. If both parents are single children themselves, they are allowed to have two children, as a means of stabilising the population.
Mind you, richer families can always just pay the fine, and the law has never applied to ethnic minorities.

Apparently shares in pushchair manufacturers around the world are up and a Japanese condom maker's shares are down 10% on the news of the one child policy ending :D
