Left Tube and Anarchist Videos

You remember that book about racial intelligence that caused a stir back in the 90's? The book that "race realists" still keep banging on about? The book you probably know is out of step with the science, but life's too short and you never read it or anything that really demonstrated where it went wrong? That damn book that never seems to go away?

Well here's Shaun debunking the Bell Curve. He's systematic and thorough. I particularly enjoy how he exposes just how poor the data it relies up on is. The video is long. Really long. And it's devoid of any artfulness. He may as well have just written it down, but I'm lazy and like to listen to people talk. And I'm not the only one. Shaun makes videos without any wizzes and bangs, he's just forensic. Purely and simply forensic. This epic but dry video has over 777,000 views now. This is not shallow entertainment, this is somebody doing the hard leg work and creating something useful. And you get the joy of watching someone bang the nail on the head.

Just watched that all the way through - the presenter is a funny guy - very entertaining video and yeah - brands aren’t your friend  (apart from my favourite vape brand which is my friend :D).

Edit: the premise of this video suggests that brands that go woke aren’t really going woke at all but are cynically exploiting both sides of the left/right paradigm and profiting as a result. In these examples the notion of ‘get woke go broke‘ is dispelled.

I guess the real message here is: woke up sheeple - before you get fleeced.

OK for Breadtube sceptics. Here's my favourite Contrapoints video. It's not her most popular and has indeed caused some controversy. This is Natalie early in her transition to a woman. It marks a transition away from her anti-fascist/anti-alt right/anti-capitalist content towards trans issues - which is a shame in itself. Here she sets up a dialogue with two sides of herself over ideology (identity theory versus performative theory) as well as over the person she is becoming. There is nothing didactic about this video. It leans one way but ends with uncertainty. It is a small work of art and it asks uncomfortable questions I had never even conceived of. I've watched it many times.

Her videos are great. In ones like this she presents a thesis and an antithesis but doesn’t fully side with either or provide a synthesis, leaving it to the viewer to try and figure out where they stand.

I tried to watch that a while back but never got through it. I'll have to give it another crack.

I think many of her videos are about her working out where she stands herself and she sometimes puts a step wrong, hence the controversy around her. But really the broader point is that you shouldn't be getting your ideas fed to you by some youtuber (or anybody else) in the first place. The value of these videos comes from the broader conversation.

Natalie has done some really good vids. I really like the video about how shit academia is from before she went viral. It was also before she transitioned so I don't think you can find it anymore. Her video about toxic masculinity is probably my favourite of hers, but again, it was done before she transitioned so I'm not sure it's still available.

Just noticed last night that she seems to have deleted her old videos. :(

Seeing lots of colour photos of Lenin to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth. Did anyone know he was ginger (or strawberry blonde/whatever the PC term is these days)?

He still is Comrade,

Are we absolutely sure that Bad Empanada is part of Breadtube? I always had him down as more of a communist or socialist and wasn't aware that he was breadtube.

It's true - empanadas are better described as turn-overs than bread. Maybe we could have a 'pastrytube' thread too.

A great description of Shaun, he's awesome. Have been watching his videos for a few years now atleast.
