I couldn’t agree more. The fact that Bastani seems to have noticed is noteworthy though. He’s a fairly significant figure in a younger milieu who once assumed that the Labour Party was a fit for purpose vehicle for socialist politics and could be repurposed.

I suppose that's what he's been going for, but it does seem quite a quiet, mealy-mouthed voice.

Just thought: the government are almost certainly not going to lockdown in the next 24 hours, as there's no way they want to give Starmer that win. Has he just gambled with peoples' lives by causing the government to delay any plans they might have had, or is he figuring they weren't going to lockdown in the next couple of days anyway so he just gets to say "told you so" when they inevitably do at some later (and far too late) date?

The government are almost certainly not going to lockdown in the next 24 hours because Johnson just went on TV and told everyone to send their kids back to school tomorrow. Going into lockdown would be less of a u turn and more of a car crash
