Keir Starmer's time is up

The Labour Party's earlier line was that the public didnt care about these things

Sir Keir Starmer, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner and Chancellor Rachel Reeves will not accept any further donations for clothing after a row over donations, a Downing Street source has said.

The prime minster has been embroiled in a growing controversy after it emerged he had repeatedly accepted gifts including sunglasses, tailoring and personal shopping for his wife from Labour peer Waheed Alli.

The Financial Times has reported that Ms Rayner and Ms Reeves declared thousands of pounds in work clothing from wealthy donors as general office support.
This is a disgrace. It seems that the Leaders of the people of our Land are refusing offers of clothing now, and will be turning up at events in scruffy rags.

I know nothing about football matches but when he is in this VIP Box will he be facing the crowd of oppossing fans?, if so can any football supporters here who end up going to support a team oppossing his (Arsenal?) please take the opportuniy to hold up some entertaining banners for his amusement?

...Make them very BIG

This narrative of the centrists - that Starmer is under attack - is correct.

But, it’s not because he’s ’on the left’ and being attacked by a right wing media. Whilst the media is undoubtedly right wing there is nothing in Starmer’s bleak censorious liberalism that is of concern. Rolling back the state, reform, freezing the old to death are fine by them. That there is no vision, no plan, no narrative just the wholesale adoption of the neoliberal agenda of the last 40 years is precisely what Starmer promised.

The criticism of Starmer is because his offer - managerial competence and the “grown ups back in charge” - appears to be palpably false. Like Johnson, Truss and Sunak, Starmer appears incapable of basic efficiency and effective management of the state on behalf of capital.

The disorientation of the grifter class on twitter who’ve spent years hammering the Tories only to find out to their horror that their side are the same and as venal and stupid is highly enjoyable.

I dont think she is getting the reaction she was looking for judging by the comments.

Some of us owe Starmer an apology. I for one have been predicting that Starmer and his government would be a disaster and deeply unpopular within months of taking office.

I was wrong. He’s achieved mass unpopularity within weeks.

The only questions now are:

When does he beat the Tory record?
How long before the PLP realise Starmer and Reeves are an unmitigated disaster, have no plan and that defeating austerity through austerity has been tried before and merely leads to deeper austerity?

He’s done it. More unpopular than Sunak before the 100 day honeymoon period is over. Stunning.
