Kamala Harris' time is up

yeah - pleased shes going strong on abortion and gun control. Very clear divding lines between her and trump on policy - and also shes smart, warm, articulate, not old and isnt a revolting, bigotted, abusive sack of shit. Read an article today that was arguing that if the election is focused on cost of living and peoples lives etc - then trump wins -but if its focused on trump then harris wins. Becasue if its about stopping trump then the democrat vote will turn out in greater numbers.

Worker rights, including union rights, are the other major plank she introduced in that speech. I was peasantly surprised to hear her mention unions.

Her parents, Shyamala Gopalan, a cancer researcher from India, and Donald Harris, an economist from Jamaica, immigrated to the United States and met while pursuing advanced degrees at the University of California at Berkeley.”

....and the lies will probably continue
Come to think of it, is she not part of that trend of Marxist academics having disappointing centrist children, like Ralph Miliband and Joseph Buttigieg? I dunno how radical Donald Harris actually is/was, but looking it up apparently he wrote an introduction to a book by Bukharin once, I expect that'll get dug up and thrown around soon.

Capital Accumulation and Income Distribution does get really good reviews from leftists. I am 60% intrigued to get hold of it, but thats not enough to pay the £40 required.

Looking forward to how trump reacts to all the excitement and how Harris is now the centre of attention.
He certainly won't like it. Wouldn't be surprised if he trys to claim that actually he is the first woman of colour to be a presidential candidate.

she did the sleeve notes for a Wedding Present album is about all I can remember.

Richard Burgen is very vocal in his love of metal, a regular at Download. So it couldn't be him,
Oh yeah, the brief "Burgon is a nazi" slur cos he had some kind of connection to a band that used the Black Sabbath-style "s" was one of the more memorably tenuous attacks of that period.

eta: he got £30,000 out of the Sun over it.

talking of which saw an article today saying that she's "gone viral"...all manor of memes and annoying internet hashtags and god knows what.....immediately went "massive on tik tok" (which suggested they had a campaign move ready in the bag for Monday) etc.. all of which is a double edged sword...they mustn't get carried away with likes and views and think that means they're winning....it can also put people off if it gets annoying enough......though would expect that US presidential election campaign teams aren't that dumb, especially with theres literally hundreds of millions of dollars being spent

as you say though kaka tim, trump is not going to like it, terrible ratings, and i don't think his ymca dance routine is going to make a comeback on tiktok to save him on that score

Trump is going to a problem with this directive.

Republican leaders are warning party members against using overtly racist and sexist attacks against U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, as they and former U.S. president Donald Trump's campaign scramble to adjust to the reality of a new Democratic rival less than four months before Election Day.

At a closed-door meeting of House Republicans on Tuesday, National Republican Congressional Committee chairman Richard Hudson, R-N.C., urged lawmakers to stick to criticizing Harris for her role in Biden-Harris administration policies.

“This election will be about policies and not personalities,” House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters after the meeting.

“This is not personal with regard to Kamala Harris,” he added, "and her ethnicity or her gender have nothing to do with this whatsoever.”

The warnings point to the new risks for Republicans in running against a Democrat who would become the first woman, first Black woman and first person of South Asian descent to win the White House. Trump, in particular, has a history of racist and misogynistic attacks that could turn off key groups of swing voters, including suburban women, as well as voters of color and younger people Trump's campaign has been courting.

Presumably the Democrat team will be looking to goad Trump into using the N word and Cunt* ‘preferably’ together about Harris and on video… I suspect they have a high chance of success too.

( *which has a different, anti woman meaning in US English as opposed to our proper English, which has been discussed ad nauseam on here…)
