Kamala Harris' time is up

One difference between Trump and Kamala is that Kamala asks permission and Trump just takes

Here is a list of musicians who asked Trump to stop using their songs.

Wow knew there was a few but did not realise there were that many. There is a much shorter list of delusional pro-Trump musicians most of who (apart from Trace Adkins and Jackson obviously) I have never heard of.

Biden took the US out of Afghanistan, which Trump failed to do. Biden took flak for that from all sides.
Given that Trump had signed a deal with the Taliban to leave by May 2021 and had shown every sign of sticking to it and wanting to get out as quickly as possible, it is likely the outcome there was pretty similar whoever won. Biden did go against the foreign policy establishment who wanted to delay withdrawing, but even then it wouldn't have made much difference in the end.

Foreign policy will suck whoever wins tbh. Some people mistakingly think Trump was a non-interventionist. He wasn't he massively ramped up Obama's drone program and made it less legally transparent in the process. He also toughened the economic embargo against Cuba and supported the coup against Morales in Bolivia. If re-elected he could also well toss Ukraine to Russia and Taiwan to China.

Is it not a longstanding thing that the US tends to use "middle class" where we would say "working class"? Like, they'll often use "middle class" for unionised factory jobs and the like?
It’s analogous to their soft drink sizing, where they’ll never label anything as small (often ‘regular’).

Middle class in America is very different, tends to mean average/regular worker, anything above poverty level basically. It doesn’t have the same loading/history as in the UK.

Yeah, way more people got killed by Trumps drones

I specially liked this one:

George Harrison's estate denounced the use of the Harrison-written Beatles song "Here Comes the Sun" after the Trump campaign used the song to introduce Ivanka Trump at the 2016 Republican National Convention.[6] The estate noted that Trump did not have permission to use this song, but that they would consider allowing him to use the Harrison song "Beware of Darkness".[6]

:D

She was front and center at the launch of Biden's re-election campaign and spoke at dozens of events across the country as part of the campaign, never seemed to get much attention though

Harris was also featured heavily in Biden’s announcement video, appearing 13 times over the course of the three-minute spot. The centrality of the vice president in the video’s imagery appeared to serve multiple purposes: to emphasize a younger generation of Democrats in Biden’s world, even as he enters his 80s; to underscore the importance of Black support; and to bolster Harris herself, who has been dogged by questions about her political operation, acumen and whether she should remain on the 2024 ticket over the course of her vice presidency.

That's some pretty heavyweight sleb backing right there:

E2a nope scam story apparently:

Meanwhile the disgusting orange mess gets his endorsements from hairy, aggressive, deranged old men and rubes with gun fixations

Whatever one thinks of her politics or history, its hard to deny that she's excellent at giving speeches:

She has been a bit all over the shop, re speeches. She started off (as VP) really badly. Her speeches were unclear and meandering. Her popularity was well below Bidens. It’s one of the things that made him run again.

But then they came for Roe v Wade and she came into her own. Got a subject where she was undoubtedly the right lead and she showed why Biden picked her in the first place.

That's actually pretty solid. They really should have wheeled her out as the running mate and made a bigger deal of her earlier.
It is solid. This election isn't really about changing minds. It's about getting your vote out in particular states. EG Georgia - high turnout in the urban areas and Harris wins. I think Harris could be good at motivating that.

That's the first speech by her that I've seen and she must have tightened up a lot, in that case. It was well-structured and contained enough meat to give a positive reason to vote for her.

She's impressively unequivocal about abortion rights. The state should leave women the fuck alone in decisions about their bodies.

Tbh it's quite good to see someone from one of the mainstream centre-left/liberal parties standing up unequivocally for anything that's counter to the right wing press agenda. I can't think of an equivalent for Starmer.

Are you including attacks against ISIS when you speak of "drone attacks"?
