Kamala Harris' time is up

Presumably the Democrats team will be looking to goad Trump into using the N word and Cunt* ‘preferably’ together about Harris and on video… I suspect they have a high chance of success too.

( *which has a different, anti woman meaning in US English as opposed to our proper English, which has been discussed ad nauseam on here…)

Once it's finally proven that Trump uses the racial slur, and and it will be... there's little doubt that hardcore Trumpists will try and justify use of the word.

I don't think there's any doubt that Trump is or has been a regular user of the N-word - I wouldn't be surprised if it was his first word - but I think if somebody who didn't want him to be president had a damning recording it would have been released by now

We'll see.

People may be terrified to come forward. Think of the vilification and death threats that would be leveled against them...

It's ageist to call someone doddery and old doddery and old?

It's reasonable to say that in your late 70s and early 80s you have less energy and may be more prone to confusion when tired or stressed. And it's fair to ask whether someone paid to act decisively on matters of huge importance is sufficiently reliable on that basis.

With both Biden and Trump this was blown up to a ridiculous degree painting then as senile, unable to understand or undertake basic tasks etc. That end of it absolutely was ageist (and demonstrably inaccurate - both of them write and speak cogently the vast majority of the time).

Obama's brain was largely empty. The Trump one is full of farts. The Biden one didn't work. Does Harris even have one? It is real bizarre, American politics is a sick joke.

Trump is not cogent. There is more than ample evidence that he has the intellect of a potato.

The man can entertain a crowd for an hour with no script. He is not incapable.

Chatting shite about “the late, great Hannibal Lecter” is not indicative of any ability, other than to portray himself as a total cretin.

Presidential candidates are supposed to be serious, knowledgeable, diplomatic, thoughtful and perceptive.

He is none of these things. He’s only running in this race in order to keep his capacious, incontinent arse out of jail.

It indicates he can understand and play to a large crowd for an extended period using a variety of memorised tricks, which is actually a relatively rare skill and certainly not one a senile person can wield. Pretending otherwise undermines you, not him, because it suggests you're either too lazy or haven't the wit to see what's actually happening.

Whether or not he's a complete grifter is irrelevant to this part of the discussion. The fact is if you want to hit the target when criticising him this teenage pouting about him being gaga is not it.

There’s no reason to take this argument to extremes. Trump has some good tricks for dominating meetings and bullying one-on-one. These tricks transfer surprisingly well to rallies and debates. He’s also prone to dropping the ball and veering off into metaphors that don’t work at all, then poor at returning to the point. Which is not surprising for a man of his age who is doing gigs that require plenty of stamina, but also might suggest that some of the neural connections are beginning to misfire in ways that are associated with dementia.

Sure. But I was replying to krtek a houby's comment in response to PursuedByBears saying Biden was 'doddery and old'. According to the dictionary I just looked at, 'doddery' is defined as slow and unsteady in movement because of weakness in old age.' Which seems like a reasonable description of Biden from recent videos of him. 🤷‍♀️

Well, maybe you should go and apply your vast intellect to coming up with some not-so-amusing sobriquet for them.

I didn't argue otherwise, in fact I said earlier in the thread that both he and Biden act basically how you'd expect men of their age to act, mostly compos mentis with occasional lapses.

You got there before the edit, though: I think some of his more wild metaphorical leaps are consistent with the early stages of dementia.

I've not suggested for one moment that he is senile. Please don't put words into my mouth.

Standing on a podium talking drivel is indeed a rare attribute but whether it counts as a "skill" is debatable. I think it rather demonstrates instead that he just loves the sound of his own voice. Nothing he says is either clever, interesting - or even accurate most of the time. What you appear to suggest as something positive is, for me, simply performative nonsense.

I'm neither lazy, witless - nor a pouting teenager but I can see Trump for exactly what he is. Hurling mild insults at me is not helping your case one bit. 😉

He's uninteresting to you (and me). But he's not performing for us, is he.

I dislike Jimmy Carr's standup, that's not the same thing as saying what he does is unskilled.

I think, far from seeing Trump as what he is, you've allowed your dislike of him and what he represents to cloud your judgment. That's not an insult, it's an assessment.

Surely the point is his base love him and he is very good at delivering the short sound bites the media repackages

No one is watching an hour long rally on tv, but the sound bites go viral

A cretin is a derogatory outdated term fo a person who suffers from the consequences of an underactive thyroid gland.

He's ignorant, and ill-educated - but that's very far from being stupid.

Its difficult to tell when he advocates the drinking of bleach, ponders about nuking hurricanes, stares at eclipses, wants to buy Greenland and numerous other gaffes and dubious statements.

Anyways, not to derail Kalama Harris thread. Perhaps there should be a separate thread to keep track of the allegedly stupid things hes said and done...

Fair enough, though I would note there that one of the things Dems frequently do is overlook (deliberately or no) when he's having a bit of a nod and a wink to his audience. Which helps work their own base but also his. Does he actually think nuking hurricanes is a serious policy proposal? Depends who you're talking to.
