Rentoul has further apologised for thinking a Green Paper meant recycled stationery, and that Standing Orders were laws forbidding sitting. He is rethinking his career as parliamentary commentator.
I had a really good chuckle, both at Rentoul's tweet, and at the spectacle of Jon Trickett 'fighting the law' with some militant 'Kill the Bill' posturing and then employing the law to defend his reputation.
But why exactly would the Guardian be 'circling it's wagons' since Rentoul doesn't work for them ? Oh wait it's the 'punch line' of a truly pathetic non-story in middle class wank rag The Skwawkbox.
Plus I am not sure you have a massive grip on what happened here. Are you saying that anyone on the left who opposes the bill should not use their right to not be libelled? Massively weird if so. Not even sure how these two things can be connected, even with galaxy brain tenuous theories.
