Arf! No, he simply bellowed into the mic at jet-engine volume, did that "intense" look of his, and soaked up the applause at the end. He also came up w/a statistic which made me immediately think "WTF?" (and which from checking later looks to be cobblers). And he missed the chance to say "And I keel you, Netinyahu" too.

Having said that, he seemed to go over well w/the crowd, and he did say one sensible thing w/regard to how personal choice, judgment and consience counts in how an individual engages w/the Gaza/Palestine situation. So what can you do?

Back in 1999 he was campaigning up here for the Labour Party during the first Scottish Parliament elections. I started mocking him for his party sanctioning the UN/US/UK bombing Serbian TV and killing make-up artists in the name of peace-keeping. He took one look at me-skinhead, sideburns, harrington, denims etc-and started accusing me of being a fascist and how he'd happily teach me a lesson. I told him i'd happily take him up on his offer and we should take a walk round the corner to the car park where he could try and carry out his threat. He started shouting I was threatening him even though someone else had already heard him offer me a 'square go'. I asked him a second time if he was going to try and make good his threat and he started ignoring me.

2 days later he clocked me at the MayDay demo and walked towards me purposefully then when he was I was selling the SSP's newspaper looked might confused and said the sum total of fuck all.

Absolute fucking wanker of a man.

I find Facebook almost unremittingly depressing. Especially when I come across someone I have known, whose expressed views make me cringe. I've blocked quite a number of people who don't understand the difference between being 'right wing' and being fascist.

Examples:

As a Catholic, it grieves me deeply that the catholic church was confederate-in-chief in antisemitism; and their antisemitism essentially caused the most brutal murderous aspects of the Nazis...

If we fail to check Islam in precisely the same way as we, using the most advanced laws of the day, did against Catholics for centuries, then a greater antisemitism with a far greater darkness than the Nazis will be sure to follow.

Where Jews suffer, we are all doomed to suffer... eventually.

PS Catholics have paid their dues to the protestant ascendancy and are now reconciled; why does Islam get the free pass...? Now that is an infinitely more unfair form of discrimination against humanity if we fail to stop it.
