Is America burning? (Black Lives Matter protests, civil unrest and riots 2020)

but not across the boards :(
I think Urban is setting a fine example for Twitter right now...

Let's face it, when we ban these cunts outright, they only come back under a different name, so maybe it's worthwhile keeping them where we can see them.

Not to mention that this "death of a thousand cuts" approach is likely to be rather more humiliating, and rather less conducive to a big victim mentality outburst than a straight ban.

ETA: though I'd make an exception for our very own Amazon delivery driving Presidential advisor...

Lyrics from a 56 year old recording...nothing learned, little changed.

Ya know, the Motor City is burning, babe
There ain't a thing in the world they can do
Ya know, the Motor City is burning people
There ain't a thing that white society can do
Ma home town burning down to the ground
Worser than Vietnam
Let me tell you how it started now
It started on 12th Clair Mount that morning
It made the, the pig cops all jump and shout
I said, it started on 12th Clair Mount that morning
It made the, the pigs in the street go freak out
The fire wagons kept comin', baby
But the Black Panther Snipers wouldn't let them put it out
Wouldn't let them put it out, wouldn't let them put it out
Get it on
Well, there were fire bombs bursting all around the people
Ya know there was soldiers standing everywhere
I said there was fire bombs bursting all around me, baby
Ya know there was National Guard everywhere
I can hear my people screaming
Sirens fill the air, fill the air, fill the air
Your mama, papa don't know what the trouble is
You see, they don't know what it's all about
I said, your mama, papa don't know what the trouble is, baby
They just can't see what it's all about
I get the news, read the newspapers, baby, baby?
You just get out there in the street and check it out
I said, the Motor City is burning, people
I ain't hanging 'round to fight it out
I said, the Motor City is burning, people
Just not hang around to fight it out
Well, I'm taking my wife and my people and they're on TV
Well, just before I go, baby, [Incomprehensible]
Fireman's on the street, people all around
Now, I guess it's true
I'd just like to strike a match for freedom myself
I may be a white boy, but I can be bad, too
Yes, it's true now, yes, it's true now
Yes
Let it all burn, let it all burn, let it all burn

Indeed...no change...2010 lyrics.....

1960 what? 1960 who?
1960 what? 1960 who?
19, hey! The motor city is burning, that ain't right
1960 what? 1960 who?
1960 what? 1960 who?
19, hey! The motor city is burning, y'all, that ain't right
There was a man, voice of the people
Standing on the balcony, of the Loraine Motel
Shots rang out, yes it was a gun
He was the only one, to fall down y'all
That ain't right, then his people screamed
Ain't no need for sunlight! (Ain't no need for sunlight)
Ain't no need for moon light! (Ain't no need for moon light)
Ain't no need for street light (ain't no need for street light)
'Cause it's burning really bright (burning real bright)
Some folks say we gonna fight (gonna fight)
'Cause this here thing just ain't right (ain't right)
1960 what? 1960 who?
1960 what? 1960 who?
19, hey! The motor city is burning, y'all
Whoo
Motor city is burning, y'all
Great God almighty! The motor city's burning
Ooh it's burning
Young man, coming out of a liquor store
With three pieces of black liquorice, in his hand y'all
Mister police man! Thought it was a gun, thought he was the one
Shot him down y'all, that ain't right
Then his momma screamed!
'Cause this here thing just ain't right (ain't right)
1960 what? 1960 who?
1960 what? 1960 who?
19, hey! The motor city is burning
Great God almighty it's, great God almighty it's burning
Can't put out the fire 'cause it's burning
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!
1960 what? 1960 who?
1960 what? 1960 who?
1960 what? 1960 who?
1960 what? 1960 who?
1960 what? 1960 who?
1960 what? 1960 who?
1960 what? 1960 who?
1960 what? 1960 who?
That ain't right
That ain't right
That ain't right
That ain't right
That ain't right

We could add a few in between and after too..

Charging the (ex-)cop I think will do something to quell the violence tonight - at least that's what the authorities hope - but it may be too late, given the encouragement that the precinct takeover will have given to protestors in other cities.

it will show up in the independent autopsy if granted

no higher ups to lean on the coroner

odd that happens to be almost universal during police/Guard related deathes

Fuck this shit, indeed.

"Potential" intoxicants? Isn't the point of an autopsy supposed to be to nail down this kind of thing? Smells like bullshit.

Funny how so many people who die in police custody turn out to have underlying health conditions. The pigs act like they're an occupying army in enemy territory where all the locals are hardened MMA champions, when they are in fact operating within peacetime civilian areas populated by normal people. Normal people who sometimes have health issues and don't deserve to be condemned to death on that account.

Is America burning?
Yes.

Canadain prime minster Trudeau mentioned the issues (?) in the States.
First he said that Canadians were watching with shock and horror.
He went on to say that Canadians should not feel smug.
He reminded Canadians that we have our own racial issues that need to be addressed.

This is just a long slow buildup to November... Where trump refuses to accept defeat..... That is... If the elections are held..... He's already laying out the groundwork for stating its rigged, and what we are witnessing now is just a bland precursor of what's to come.

He will make his replacements life hell

The only way the USA will get through is... is that he needs to die

I can't believe the "potential intoxicants" but. "He might have been killed by drugs, if he took any. We haven't detected any drugs but we're just going to go ahead and assume he took some anyway and that was the real reason he died, not having his airway squashed."

This guy is the least subtle cop provocateur I've ever seen. I guess they just figure they don't even have to try to be sneaky since the average American would call any mention of cops starting a riot a "conspiracy theory". Someone mentioned that the umbrella is probably so the cop helicopter you can hear can identify him easily.

I couldn't watch the footage of George being murdered.
No, me neither.
I know it's obvious to most here, but I'm hoping stuff like this, and the George Floyd murder, and that thing in Central Park with the white woman calling the police, all make people think about what would happen if there weren't cameras around, and what does when there aren't.
Make who think?

If you can murder black people with impunity, it doesn't really matter whether the cameras are there or not.

Yeah this is not much of an example of the idea that cameras will be our saviours :
They handcuffed the CNN reporter LIVE ON NATIONAL TV and Chauvin whilst he killed was being filmed by a witness and also they all were wearing police body cameras the whole time.
Cameras as deterrent only makes sense when you have reason to believe that you'll get punished for whatever it is they catch you doing, that obviously not the case here.
