I was in Atlanta a few years ago and was pointed to a parking spot by a car park attendant who was open carrying a Glock handgun and had about half a dozen spare ammunition clips on his belt.

FWIW that's standard in the Philippines too. Any doorman of a supermarket, MacDonalds, you name it. Probably not a coincidence they have an American culture hangover too.

USA has 300 million people and there's a significant amount who are appalled by shit like dressing up kids like a militia, or even carrying guns. It's not incurable or diseased, it's a result of a heavily entrenched 250 year old constitution that historically, if not exactly realistically, gives weight to the rights of an individual against a rogue state, and that will take a long time to change. And it's certainly not the whole nation, USA is not a homogeneous entity, far from it.

It is, however, one hell of a messed up culture. Mainly a white culture. Large chunks of the USA being a racist hole.
