Hot off the press DnB thread

The a side on that EP is an awesome track...

A lovely roller. The Kid Drama tune on there is another tune that I've enjoyed. I get the feeling that it's been knocking around since his Instra:mental days and it was only just released last year as it's not much like his stuff as Jon Convex.

^its a good 4 tracker for sure
just looked up Damon Kirkham aka kid drama / instramental / jon convex etc and found this kid drama ep from this year ~ bandcamp only i think
https://convexindustries.bandcamp.com/album/cnvx001-kid-drama-crimson-azure-e-p
experimental techno really at dnb tempo ~ quite like track 3

and from there saw mention of the Heart Drive mixes, which seems like a colab between dbridge and kid drama http://heartdrive.co.uk
havent listened yet but i expect theres lots more experimental stuff on those mixes ~ 4 so far i think....look forward to checking them

im all up for experimentation and getting a bit deep and lost, so long as overall the music doesnt lose the main ingredient of making you want to dance..... though i guess theres room for everything out there.... im just wary of dance music becoming something that doesnt involve dancing!

The Heart Drive mixes are much the same as Autonomic ones that they did a few years back. I'm not sure I see it as dance music per se. I find it very listenable though.

Edit: I really like that Bandcamp EP

any idea when they're from (the heart drives?)
when i first heard that exit minimal sound (in 2010) my thoughts were that even if i dont like it at times at least it opens up the space for new possibilities within dnb...i think i still feel the same... doesnt always do it for me, but im glad its there

I think the first one was in the 2nd half of 2013 and the most recent was the December just gone.

I wonder if he paid Optical to make these too ;)
Goldie has had loads of help in the past too, but Grooverider/John tunes often have a similiar flavour to them (distinct from Optical :D) so Im sure he does have a fair amount of input. Im very loyal to Grooverider so wont hear a bad word said

ETA:
He always pushes at the edges of the most upfront edges of the scene ~ I rate him for that. Nowadays if you got to a jump up night with Taxman, Majistrate and all that lot Grooverider is the best of them in that arena. After years of listening to him on the radio I just like his character and relate to where he's coming from.... I genuinely like that EP of his too ~ no nonsense dancefloor stuff, but with ideas in there too. Id rather Grooverider going in any day of the week over a noodley set of halftempo and minimal - hardcore will never die etc! He smashed Soul in Motion when I went too.

Im honestly not sure how I'd feel about hearing jump-up at a dnb night, thats why I avoided most of them when I used to go out, with techno you don't have the risk of hearing mass produced click click plink plonk mnml. Left fabric straight after dbridge and loxy's 5HR set last time i was there for dnb, as playaz? ram? (honestly can't remember) were in room 1 iirc *shudders*

My mate randomly stumbled into Rodigan in room two that night, playing wobblestep, of all things.

ETA: Samurai night at Corsica, would highly advise you go ska invita probably won't be able to make it myself, guaranteed quality from start to finish though! https://www.facebook.com/events/1434179010215923/1434179013549256/
