The Jimi Hendrix Thread

The solo at the beginning of this (0:18 to 1:22).

Over 50 years old and I still haven't heard anyone as good as this.

That's coz there's never been anyone better before or after than Jimi. I'd love it if someone did come along... but he's incomparable.

The irony is that he knew was a good guitarist but always hated his voice. It's instantly recognisable and is pretty fucking good IMO. Low self esteem. Bonkers.

Yes, he was definitely a one off and never to be repeated I think.
I liked his voice too, it fitted in well with his music even if it wouldn't be classified as 'great' in the traditional way.

10,000 times 10,000 sang 'holy, holy, holy is the lord and blessed is the blood of the lamb.'

I love Jimi Hendrix.

Electric Lady land is often my favourite album.

I've listened to it so much, that when I walk the children to school, if it be raining I'm always like "Still Raining, Still Dreaming".

Like it's some profundity.

They're not impressed.

Wasn't until my late teens that I "got" Jimi. Are You Experienced? is probably the favourite out of the albums I have, but it's a close call.

Always wondered if the supposed collaboration with Miles Davis would have been mind blowing or not.

It would have to have been by earth standards. It's a long list of 'what ifs' though.

I think my idols went from Vanilla Ice to Ugly Kid Joe to Jimi Hendrix by the time I was ten. I was quite precocious because there was a treasure chest of my dad's old LPs to get through and I had a record player.

Always thought you was older than me!

Alas, the parents record collection was a few Nana Mouskouri, Mario Lanza records, some 8-track cartridges of various artists and an ABBA compilation. Not stuff a kid could really get into. Well, apart from ABBA.
