Hardcore Speaker Porn

Very curious how this sounds - I thought the wooden nature of a cabinet is a big part of the sound, so wonder what difference metal casings make. I think someone should fly me out there to investigate this pressing issue ;)

If that's how they stack the cabs it will sound fucking awful. Look at all those horns!
i reserve judgment till i hear it: if your tops are split you just don't drive them as hard - a wall of speakers is a wall of speakers, its all in the eq/cross over/amps etc...more speakers than needed and not overdriven is a good way to go i think.... cant help but imagine this sounds very loud though

Here are some links for the sound

I am no expert but I am on the internet so can pretend to be one: metal case speakers sound shit. Fact.;)

Just had a marvellous idea *lightbulb*

you;re right sim, most likely wood underneath.
anyhow I have a friend currently in adelaide on facebook who has promised to try and find out and do a little interview/audio feature (he has a radio show on Bristols Ujima radio) and will hopefully report back!

If you had a case with a vacuum in-between the vabs, like double glazing works, would it sound good or shit? That was my lightbulb moment.

unless they're strapped down properly and/or got mats inbetween then surely they'll rattle if sound good/loud enough?

With good internal bracing and good materials used in construction of the cabinet, the sound of the cab resonating doesn't tend to interfere with the sound quality very much. So it would be pretty pointless and very hard to achieve.
