I don't know why he's the first choice for free-kicks. He hits a belter once in a while, but fails to create any sort of danger 19 out of every 20 attempts. Plus, everyone knows he's going to shoot at goal, absolutely no element of surprise. He'd be a lot more useful in front of goal, trying to bait defenders into covering and forcing the goalkeeper to second guess where the ball might be heading to.

Heh, they've been telling Ronaldo wouldn't play in any game since the CL final. So I called the injury bug that bit the team (Coentrão out, Zardoz Almeida and Patricio out for possibly at least two games) bad karma

But he probably shouldn't be playing anyway. He's clearly struggling with match fitness, and the Germans easily played him out - when the team clearly functions towards serving him (two wasted chances because instead of shooting at goal, the players decided to pass to Ronaldo), it's a recipe for disaster. Or losing 4-0 in the opening game.
