I feel an 'if they weren't footballers' thread coming on.

US commentators call halftime "the 180".
Bring on the metal folding chair!I like to think that when Dempsey got booted in the face somewhere an American commentator went 'oh my word he's been busted open here' in a real WWE wrestling style of delivery.
Not quite the same. Football is massive in other American countries as well as around the whole world. I would compare baseball to say cricket which is only really only played in some commonwealth countries. However, football seems to be the most popular sport around the world except in the USA.Probably the same reason the Europeans are relatively uninterested in American Sports. Culture, coverage, no particular domestic appetite for the other's game? TBF I think Football has come on leaps and bounds in the USA if you compare it with the state it was in just 20 years ago. The women's game is probably bigger here than in any other country and the men's game has not been unaided by mounting cases of brain injury through American Football - particularly among parents/youths.
Doesn't cricket beat it in India, Bangladesh etc?Not quite the same. Football is massive in other American countries as well as around the whole world. jsut let down on crosses a bit, but very deft everywhere else i thinkI'm really enjoying Ghana's style. Great team.
Yes, massive tho national side are a joke and league is bent. Not there at the moment but got piss-taking texts off all my mates after England lost so they stayed up at leastYes you are right. I suppose cricket must have caught on in colonial times but not football.
I believe you live in china? I think football is very big in china even though they don't have good national team. However the Chinese seem to know all the names of the best players in the world. I also understand that a lot of people there are staying up in the early hours of the morning to watch this World Cup.
