Ghana v USA (Group G) Monday 16th June 2014

I particularly appreciated "you won't score from there" followed by a discussion of the various players over the years who had

The commentating has been shit generally.

Also I think I have heard Porto Alegre called Porto Alegro Porto Alegra and Porto Alegran by commentators all during the past 3 days, what is so hard about the name of the place?!

I'm watching on me own in the office. Doesn't seem to be a lot of interest here. Half of LA are down at the LA Kings (ice hockey) Stanley Cup victory parade downtown. Meh.
Why is it that North Americans aren't into football but only seem interested in their own sports like baseball and American football?

Probably the same reason the Europeans are relatively uninterested in American Sports. Culture, coverage, no particular domestic appetite for the other's game? TBF I think Football has come on leaps and bounds in the USA if you compare it with the state it was in just 20 years ago. The women's game is probably bigger here than in any other country and the men's game has not been unaided by mounting cases of brain injury through American Football - particularly among parents/youths.

"That's a fantastic tackle... oh, its a foul"

Garry Neville must have nightmares that he wakes up after a night of restless dreams and has become Robbie Savage.

Yeah it's the same reason no one gives a flying fuck about Aussie rules football anywhere but Australia. In fact it's so pony over here that I know a bloke who represented England in an Aussie rules match, England ffs and he's a short, pot bellied bloke who works in a warehouse. I can't even remember who England played but I know about 17 people turned up to watch it :D.

I like the refs who look like they should be working on the fish counter in Waitrose.

Yeah I like players who look like that too. I've always thought Messi wouldn't look out of place working down the local chippy.

If he wore a long white uniform and wasn't an international footballer of course!
