It's a valid point. However, to counter I'd say:
  • that hasn't happened as the Trust has converted its reserves into shares (doesn't mean it won't or it couldn't but it hasn't),
  • that the Trust's money was invested in other things that improved fan experience (e.g. new seats),
  • that there is logic to the Trust deciding that investing the reserves built up over c20 years in the club for the goal of long-term ownership was better than burning through the reserves in c10 years on coaches people really weren't using,
  • that anyone who sat through the year's worth of meetings on coaches that a small bunch of us did would rather walk to every away game than have to organise another coach.

Three sensible posts in a row 👍

Edited to say the three above not your last three though that may be true too.

See u there in main bar about 7. I be the one with the collection tin for away game at Margate. ReplY I’m sure u sell tickets on coach for that. A afternoon out by the sea
What are you collecting for Margate?

B.I.G Surprisingly Ben wields no power and leaves decisions to the board and the people who work day to day at the club full time.
When you used to attend of course you didn’t see the majority shareholder behind the goal, that’s because he wasn’t a fan, nor were all the others before him since the 1970s
As he is a person I know well and trust more than any other majority shareholder I have had mostly the displeasure to meet, I would just like to see a list of the things you feel have driven fans away. I am sure your reasons are genuine, I’m just struggling to think of them.
As for coaches, for me they are something a supporters qroup should organise but you have a different view.
Turning to Gavin, he has been given a competitive budget and the club has also built infrastructure through creating paid employees in a number of areas - media, club Secretary, General Manager. It is also one of a select few football club that pays Matchday staff at least London Living Wage.
Everybody knows there is lots to do and your opinions would be considered just like anybody who contacts the club to voice an opinion, good or bad.

The fact that we never saw anyone progress from the academy to the full team was always puzzling
I can think of three players in the current first team squad - Jamie Splatt, Quade Taylor & Sanchez Ming. Other Aspire Academy graduates include Ethan Pinnock, George Elokobi, Diallang Jaiyesimi, Simeon Jackson, Xavier Vidal, Kershaney Samuels, Michael Chambers and Nyren Clunis. In total over 30 players moved on from the Academy to the senior football with the club getting the benefit of that. Whether the club is able to set up an Academy from scratch is debatable given that we are probably ten years behind other clubs at our level and are in the most congested area for Academies. Along with the pro clubs there are a number of private academies whose sole purpose is to produce a production line of players promising professional contracts or more commonly in the Women’s game, scholarships to play college soccer in the US.

I would like to trust the majority shareholder too. Is it a matter of public record how much was paid to acquire each share?

A number of people put their hands in their pockets to support the club without seeking anything in return.

It’s actually a board decision on which Ben doesn’t always vote. Still let’s bring back McCormack, Mudroglu and Dye. Those were the days
Could it be clarified how the Dulwich Hamlet board is currently composed as, according to the website, we currently have a four member board meaning that only in the rare situation of one for, one against & one abstention would Ben ever be the position of making the casting vote. Still it’s going to be a million times better than my time on the Committee when I was never once told what the budget was (for example) and given the opportunity to vote on that. Nor were we involved in any management decisions.

Will wait for the club to formally confirm it, but it looks like everyone has left...Gavin, Junior, Steve King's ex assistant, Charlie the GK coach, Lyndon the kitman...

I'm not a big fan of champion hill when it's too busy so I've stopped going along to most Saturday home games. Can't move around, queues are too long, and too many people there don't have a clue about the culture and history of the club so the rabble is diluted to almost nothing.

However, I've no idea how you think the ownership of the club is responsible for that. As others have said, it is partly the community work done by Mishi & others, partly word of mouth, and partly the exciting final years in this Isthmian that have meant the club grew too big too quickly in the last couple years. Do I think games would be more enjoyable if there were a 2k cap on attendances and fans were only let in if they were able to answer questions on the door about the first XI who played in the playoff final defeat at East Thurrock? Yes. Do I think that should happen? Absolutely not.

I'm not sure what powers you think Ben has to make home games more enjoyable.
I remember that sodding wind and being three nil down at half time versus East Thurrock. Tables full of cheap Fosters in every corner of the ground and the crowd being 90% Hamlet. Good day, crap outcome. That bloody wind though!

Weren't all three of them corners or something as well? Swear one didn't even touch a head, was just blown into the net.

Wind definitely died off after we switched ends at half time, must have been paid off by East Thurrock!

Was a great day out that one. Lining up outside that pub en route waiting for first orders... landlord didn't know what hit him :D

That was a great day out, despite the result

I seem to remember even on that day there were some odd decisions from Gavin, with various players who'd been key in getting us to the play-offs left on the bench or in the stand.

With Ash floating in floppy corners whereas Thurrock’s goals had come from them whipping them in.

Seems a lack of glowing tributes to a manager with a record the envy of any upstart. Stats don't lie. Hamlets longest serving manager too. Deserves the highest accolades and honours.

Will the AstroTurf be greener on the otherwise? Maybe..... But there should be no moaning if not.

My stupid self thought that was the ex York City player. Still, sounds a good appointment.

I knew that Paul Barnes. I did my work experience in a physiotherapy unit in Nottingham when I was 16 and he was in there with a dodgy knee (which would curtail his career ultimately). Notts County's star apprentice at the time and we hit it off. Lovely geezer he was. Gutted this is the wrong Paul Barnes because the real one would have seen me right for free beer and a sweet seat in the directors box.

Given we've had 6 wins in 2022 it would be very hard to do much worse.

This isn't a panic or rush decision. I was tipped off last season Paul was on Hamlet's radar and went to a couple of Guildford games. Whilst ultimately it didn't work there, I can see why he appeals.

Paul got his team playing good football, is a modern style constructive coach and handles himself well under match day pressure. He's got a good track record at this level and has a reputation for working to develop youth as well as the senior side. He ticks a lot of boxes.

Good on the club for thinking slightly outside the box and being willing to consider those working at Step Five.

Paul is a top coach who I am sure will help the club to reorganise it’s football operations going forward.
Players who have played under him seem to like and respect him, including some in our team.
Calm persona, good communicator, has coached a league winning side at our level.
